As far as I'm aware the UMP is better for close range spray n praying.

Personally I prefer the UMP as a backup weapon and the MP5 as a primary.

 

But most of the time I just decide depending on my sidearm.

 

If I'm using the 1911/FNX45 I stay with the UMP and if I'm using the P1/CR75 I use the MP5,

just to avoid carrying to many different types of ammo.

Right now, the UMP is a BEAST, and will one shot anyone in the chest up to medium range.

 

 

But, I like the MP5 more cause it looks more "spec ops" like :D

I tend to go with whatever I have more ammo for, lately its been ump/fnx45/1911. If you have a sidearm that takes a similar caliber of ammo, I would say go with it. Both are decent weapons, however I favor the mp5 more. With that being said, I don't have much experience with the ump45 but it is slowly growing on me
