warmly 1 Posted August 14, 2015 Hello everyone ..As the topic says I can't communicate with anyone on dayz , because i can't see what people type in chat or what they say in the direct communication channel . I noticed this problem after I added someone on steam and he told me why i have been ignoring him in dayz . According to him , he been typing and speaking to me but i literally did not see him type or say anything . I have 160 hours of gameplay and i still haven't heard nor seen a player speaking ,please note that when i type in chat i could see what i have typed , but not what others typed .I could really use some help or advice because as everyone knows communicating with others can be a game changer in dayz . Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) Process of elimination are you close enough to communicate in direct? After that, post your ingame settings for review and in addition list any other parameters etc you may be running. Also to note, is your mic/headset plugged in? If not do so prior to playing, last I remember you need a audio device in to read/hear direct communications. Steak. warmly 1 Posted August 14, 2015 I have checked everything , this maybe worth noting that my headset has no mic attached to it . Is this what might be causing the issue ?

I would be inclined to think so, do you have any other mics you can activate for use via steam settings to ensure thus is the case?
nl 986 Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) I have checked everything , this maybe worth noting that my headset has no mic attached to it . Is this what might be causing the issue ?It wouldn't explain why nobody can read what you type in game or why you can't see what they type (unless you are always too far away from them)Not having a mic would only explain why others don't hear you, not why you can't hear them (assuming you hear the normal game audio). I use a normal speaker setup for sound and use a mic in my webcam for direct communication and that works fine, both ways. warmly 1 Posted August 14, 2015 So what do you suggest ?
Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted August 14, 2015 So what do you suggest ? Locate a mic and plug the device in make sure you are squared away in your audio settings and go back to playing, should be resolved from that.
