cash81 506 Posted July 22, 2015 AK74. Decent mid range sniper rifle but still has full auto for close quarters. Mosin hits harder but is slow on follow up shots. Long range shots with the PU isnt great and a far away moving target is extremely hard to hit. Im sure youll have more use with the ak74's range.
atempleton 123 Posted July 22, 2015 When using the Kashtan on an AK you can easily take down targets at the same range as a Mosin, whilst having quicker follow up shots and the ability for full auto at close range. The Mosin's only advantage is its high damage, making it great for ambushes and clean take downs, but the AK can easily do this too (though you'll break more gear with all the shots you'll fire.)I would only recommend keeping the Mosin if you plan on upgrading to the SVD and have a heap of 7.62x54mmR. Otherwise swap to an AK.

Assuming you don't have stacks of 7.62x54, keep the 74 and consider looking for an AKM if you want to hit harder - given that the attachments can be used on both. Briljin 102 Posted July 22, 2015 Now that the Mosin no longer takes any kind of long range scope, it has become a second tier weapon. That AK74 will be off much greater value, having the same range and better CQB value.
