Fall Damage Experiment: [SUCCESS... mostly]

Recommended Posts

Foward:

I am addicted to DayZ. Even in its alpha stage, I love it so.
I've recently broke the 500 hours playtime mark. I am very proud of this, as this is seriously one of my most favorite games ever. [Many people here have game time hours that easily dwarf my amount, but just you wait, cause I'll still be playing when I reach the 3000/h mark. :P]

Yet, the one major concern I have with the game, is/was the fall damage. I adore vertical mobility and acrobatic grace in games. I am drawn to games like Assassin's Creed, because of this.

While DayZ isn't really the type of game that should be expected to alleviate itself in the vertical department for the benefit of the player, due to its realistic nature, it was up until now very broken in that regard.
I had seriously died one time, in a perfectly healthy fresh-spawn state, from sprinting off a two foot ledge.

Thankfully, this just happened:

And now I am a happy monkey. Thank you DayZ devs.
