Luftpancake 94 Posted July 10, 2015 Hello survivors of the standalone! I think that the chance of surviving a headshot without a helmet on should be possible. This shot be Super rare, Rarer than finding a smersh vest and backpack. This indeed would fit realism, Like one of the survivors of the Columbine school shooting, he took 2 shots to the head at point blank range, it was either a shotgun or tec-9 he was shot with. The student from what i recall from the interview only went unconscious and was tended to at a hospital. So yes, it it possible in real life. But of course, it should depend on the caliber of the bullet. You may be able to rarely survive a 22., a 9mm, or a .45 acp depending on the range. Range and bullet is a Big factor on this one. .22 should be mid to close rang, 9mm is about the same. I can see .45 acp mid to long range. Anything higher than .45 acp you would not be able to survive. Moving on to side effects = Random moments of extreme blur of the screen lasting up to 1 minute. Randomly falling unconscious for a short period of time. Last but not least, if the headshot was really bad, all the side effects mixed together with problems controlling your gun sway, randomly laughing or crying, and problems with typing or talking over microphone. As in microphone glitching causing a short to long pause before your voice is emitted again, And key scrambling when typing. Some of these side effects cannot be fixed. Such as randomly unconscious, stammering of the mic, key scrambling when typing, randomly laughing or crying. Bluryness is from the shock damage, so it can be cured with a morphine auto injector, pain killers + epipen. Weapon sway is from the nerves connected to your arms going haywire, so Painkillers + splint to help keep the arm steady. The weapon sway can only be suppressed, not cured. So there always will be a bit of arm sway. What do you think? Feel free to add or subtract anything.
Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted July 10, 2015 Whilst a unique look at taking one to the cranial cavity, I think overall this is a touch complex to be in full support of. If something of this caliber were to be projected ingame, my hopes would be permanent damage until the character is killed off. Thus meaning, if one was to sustain such a blow, they would remain unable to fully function suffering from listed symptoms until they eventually retired and became swept ashore once again.
cash81 506 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) All those survivors received timely professional medical care in a hospital with intense surgery and teams of medical staff. A guy with a rag and sewing kit would not be able to fix himself after being shot in the head lolEdit: if it were only to last a few minutes before you died thatd be cool like steak touched on. All the side effects and stuff only prolonging your demise for a short time. Maybe long enough to crawl away and hide so your assailant might not find your body thus robbing him of your loot. But def cant be survivable. Edited July 10, 2015 by cash81
gannon46 788 Posted July 10, 2015 though i agree some headshots are survivable we have no functioning hospitals or highly trained doctors they are all busy killing each other lol. to survive something like that would require the aid of friends family and as i said doctors and at a time like this in chenarus it would better to put one down anyway because of the amount of rations, medical supplies and just time that would required to save ones life would just be to great for both sides. so if they want to add in this ability to survive a head wound from a .308 or 7.62 there should be a serious wound that occurs and requires healing from a group if they decide your worth it then so be it if not you gotta do the long run. Lt. Aldo Raine 13 Posted July 11, 2015 I've survived many headshots. From an AKM, M4, an Magnum. My cousin shot me with all and I just lived off of luck I had no helmets or anything lol just thought I would share. What would be cool is surviving an arrow to the face with it sticking out for the rest of your characters life.

His buddy was shot in the head, but the bullet somehow swirled around his skull and went through the back of his head. No penetration of the skull. He just went unconscious and was completely fine afterwards. Edited July 11, 2015 by BillNyeTheRussianSpy

Like shot goes in the side and is pressed between the skull and helmet as it followed the contour of the helmet?

atempleton 123 Posted July 11, 2015 If you had half your face torn off by a gunshot you would not survive without hardcore medical aid which is not available in a zombie apocalypse. At the least you should pass out for a minute or two, and come to but dying, allowing for last stand revenge on your would be assailants.
Senodog 96 Posted July 12, 2015 Amazing idea love it! maybe if your wearing a Gorka Helmet or ballistic you have about 10% chance to survive.
rybec 339 Posted July 12, 2015 Consider this one. I'm curious if it was 7.62x39.
