ineedmoremountaindew 1 Posted July 9, 2015 Hi I'm luke I just ordered my first gaming pc (Cyberpower z97 i7 Configurator) today and I love the way DayZ looks. I have been watching YouTube videos about it forever and finally got enough money to buy a pc able to play it. So I'm asking this, The mod or SA? Which has more players? What has your personal experience been? Is the SA still too young for good gameplay?
Conrad_The_Comrade 577 Posted July 10, 2015 Personally I prefer the Standalone. Gameplay has been getting better fairly rapidly (In my opinion) recently, and while some people don't like the "lack of content" the SA has to offer, it is still very addicting if you're into the style of gameplay it offers. -The standalone has very very minimal "base building", in fact you can't build really, but tents, barrels, the V3S (The only current vehicle in DayZ SA), and Car Tents (I forgot the actual name xD) are in (The current stable patch; .57; has persistence off, but it's coming back in .58 if everything gets worked out).-Zombies can be few and far between at times, but at other times you can run into pretty well sized groups, the player interaction is lovely (Not meaning people are lovely, just the fun you get out of them), and all the things you can do are amazing.-The map is much much nicer, with nearly all buildings being enter-able, and practically a whole new region added in the north.-If you're into how your character looks, you have many more options than a bandit, hero, and survivor skin. Clothing is separated into tops, bottoms, shoes, hats, gloves, vests, etc. The mod has more content to offer as of now however, being that there are many many other mods to go along with DayZ, including new maps, skins, weapons, features, etc. All in all however, I recommend the SA, just due to the potential of it, and how the gameplay differs from the mod. Look up some videos of each for some unbiased information as well.
