im done with being friendly

Recommended Posts

the shoot on sight mentality seems so stupid to me, so untill now i have not tried to shoot people.

the last 4 times i died was when i saw another player and asked if he was friendly instead of just shooting him, every single time i got shot instantly, i guess i was naive to think that anyone would see other players as team members and not just walking bags of loot

its sad that i have to start shooting everyone i see cause its neither realistic nor fun to do so but im getting tired of dying every time i tell someone im friendly

It's a savage world out there. Don't be too discouraged though, there's still some good people out there. It makes those encounters all the more special when they do happen.

You can never know if someone is friendly or not, never. That's the best part of this game

Did you think you were playing The Sims online or something?

Just go away, we need to encourge this guy so he continues to fight against the urge to be a cunt.

There are some very simple steps you can take that would greatly reduce your chances of dying while trying to find out if someone is friendly or not.

Most important rule? Don't just stand there in front of them asking if they're friendly while your gun is trained on them. Take cover, make sure they don't know where you are, then ask. If you're just standing in the open, yeah, you're gonna get shot every time.

If they don't respond, they're not friendly. If they do respond, that doesn't mean they actually ARE friendly, so make sure you always have the upper hand before initiating contact. If you have an M16 and the dude has a winchester, chances are if you turn your back he will kill you. If you have a bigger backpack, he will probably kill you. If he looks like a sniper, he'll probably kill you.

You CAN be friendly. You just have to change your playstyle to match accordingly. Running up to people all herp derp asking if they're friendly just gets you shot, every time. Even if you're unarmed people will still do it. Don't be stupid about it.

I suppose you have to think about ways of approaching someone. I dont know if i would run up to a stranger with a gun, especially in a zombie apocalypse!

Like has been said, take cover and call out. If no response then assume the worst. If there is a friendly response (sometimes bandits will be civil and actually tell you they are going to kill you) tell the guy/girl to lower his gun - any gun pointing towards you should be viewed as hostile.

Apart from that keep trying. I have been playing the game for months now and have yet to register a single murder - though i have been shot about 6 times. Some of us actually treat the game as a sim, not a FPS.

How can you resist pulling the trigger at someone who just tried to kill you? Me and my team have killed a few 'smart' bandits who opened fire towards our scout when we were patrolling. We made short work of them because that seemed like the only morally correct thing to do. Atm I have one murder on my shoulders and I am 100% fine with that. I like to think that if I don't shoot people they will go shoot someone else who might have just needed help

well it seems since side chat went everyone just shoots on sight. Honestly not bumped into one 'friendly', no one talks any more. For me it's turned into "see someone, shoot them" situation

All due respect you never know when a fellow survivor had the upper-hand on you but let you pass. This happens to me and my friend quite a few times each time we play. We also drop a lot of survivors because they present a threat.

I don't think sidechat has had any bearing on the increase in player killings. Yelling "friendly?" on sidechat was always ineffective and mocked because of it. Players have just learned through multiple encounters that the one who hesitates to shoot generally doesn't walk away.

Most of the time when a bandit fires on me and doesnt kill me straight away he hides and then DC. I wouldnt mind a stand up fight with one of these pussies.
