Improvised stone knife

Option doesnt appear on all sorts of stone floors, is this just me? Can't find a small stone at all anymore.

i tried finding stones on the train tracks and couldn't do it. i had to run to the beach to find one.

 

would that be something that a relog might fix? or do train tracks (which have a billion rocks) not a place for knife stones?

The below texture is the one that produces the small stones to craft knives, it can be found all around the map.  

On several occasions it didn't work for me, whether it was desync or something else I can't be sure.
