Game freezes when joining foreign servers

So just trying to see if anyone has the same issue and, if so, how you fixed it.

Every time I join a server that isn't US-centered my client freezes at the server select screen.  It happens every time, too.  It really limits my options and sucks when I can't join a server that my friends are in.  I have to ctrl+alt+delete and force close the game in order to do anything.  I'm running stable 0.55 and have way over minimum game specs.

Still happens on .57, only now it sometimes happens on local servers...
