Shooting the Mosin...

Recommended Posts

10 pushups and some cardio. come on.

ruck at a 12 min pace for 4 miles. (45lbs + water)

then

do 3 sets of max pushups (muscle failure) (your 20secs of rest inbetween sets is flutter kicks.)

then

30 burpies (without stopping.)

then

sprint 100 meters and aim at a moving target.

no rest in between.

get back to me on what kind of off hand sway you have, I've done whats listed above.

also, an m4 also weights right around 8lbs with an optic and 30 round mag, though, not as long.

It was all I could do in a few minutes at night at home.  Kept it to the Mosin as the post started with.

I have a scoped M14 that comes in at about 13.8 pounds, an arm burner if you try to hold it after exertion.

I would stick to the M4 any day as well though the point I think in this thread is that even at rest there is too much sway.

Video would be fun to do as a test but....

I'm not THAT interested in forum posting! lol

yea 14 lbs would be a beast to hold up after all that.

i would bet the mosin would still have more sway than the m4 though due to its length, which will cause more fatigue while holding.

the workout i posted above is actually very challenging when trying to hit a moving target, heck, even a still target, you should try it some time... if you're into that kind of fun... owning a mosin and m14 you better be!

(I have a ar15 and 45/70 marlin brush gun.)

But hey, remember that the characters in DayZ could be just some random guys that have never shot a gun, even if you're an experienced shooter the characters might not be :D

Judging by the age and physical rendering of the models of all the characters in DayZ, they better be able to hold a gun steady after a little bit of exertion.....

They are all in good shape and carry a decent level of musculature.

My experience with the Mosin is standing, lots of sway, kneeling some sway, prone not much sway and a bunch of weeds in the way. It's tough to find a place to prone with nothing blocking your view and your not exposed and there is something to shoot at. Once I was up on a hillside far from anything and I was range finder the distance to a street in a town and using the scope to see how the shot looked at a zombie creeping around a house. I was quiet as a mouse in the middle of no where and a zombie popped up behind me and started hammering me. This was before the new updated zombies. After using most of the other rifles with scopes, I find a mosin with LRS to be super accurate.
