Keunus 0 Posted May 15, 2012 Hey guys,Really like the mod but I got a question. Is there a stamina feature in the game? I see people running around forever in youtube clips. Seems a bit pointless. Srry if this already have bin mentioned/or in the wrong section. Thanks
MR DELICIOUS 297 Posted May 15, 2012 I think stamina is rationalised by you having to eat and drink forty times a day.The fifteenth breakfast is the cornerstone to any day.
Macenzie 79 Posted May 15, 2012 The problem is that Chernerus is so big and vehicles are so rare that if you had to stop running to catch your breath every 1000 yards, it would take so long to get anywhere. There is a point where you have to sacrifice some realism for gameplay sake. Lycrius 0 Posted May 15, 2012 I would also like to know if there is/will be more consequences on stamina (like the fainting in ace) than the momentary rifle swaying.EDITI understand the realism vs gameplay argument but its 200km... come on.
Macenzie 79 Posted May 15, 2012 My group always sets up base camp in the north (I'm sure most experianced groups do too), a stamina system would make it an utter ball ache to hook back up with them of one of us dies during a loot run.It already takes about 45 minutes to get from the south coast to the north, it dosen't need to be any longer IMO
Keunus 0 Posted May 15, 2012 Maybe a 10 sec rest? Just to make outrunning zombies a bit harder
duffbeeer 2 Posted May 15, 2012 you can outrun zombies? :P
rottingcore 1 Posted May 15, 2012 Maybe a 10 sec rest? Just to make outrunning zombies a bit harderOutrunning zombies is plenty hard as it is.Not trying to be snobby, but you are speaking without experience. I feel like you shouldn't be suggesting ways to change a game you have never played based on youtube videos. Especially considering most youtube videos (especially popular ones) are of older versions of the game.
kaibz 8 Posted May 15, 2012 I agree, stamina may be a good idea on paper, but playing the game, you realise that if you had to stop every 1 or 2 minutes to catch your breath it could be very annoying. The more you run, the more you need to eat and drink mechanic is, imho, pretty good and balanced even if it may evolve in the future.

About 15km to run across the map
brandt 0 Posted May 15, 2012 I don't agree with most of what these ARMA newbies are saying, I think adding stamina to DayZ would be a terrific thing. One of the biggest ARMA mods ACE has a good simulation of stamina + gear weight. Sprinting from the south of Chernarus up to the north is just retarded and very gamy, there is an option for jogging in vanilla ARMA which is much more realistic, but I rarely see people use it.The moment you start sacrificing realism for gameplay you start dismantling what ARMA actually is, ARMA is a milsim. To all that don't agree with this you can respectfully kiss my ass and go back to your mainstream FPS games like CoD or BF3.

Sounded kinda cheap. Because (Here I go again) i saw from videos if you just keep running straight forward, zombies wont hit you because of the attack animation. I also dont see the point of running non stop in this game. You have to be sneaky and cautious afterall. But I will stop bitching and just check out the mod. Lycrius 0 Posted May 15, 2012 It's actually 225km². About 15km to run across the mapMy arquement still stands. I've personally hoofed it across the map quite a few times and while I agree it takes ages to get back from the dead' date=' isn't that the point? [is the mid map spawnpoint used by anything other than character creating anyone?']Also jogging vs sprinting... think about it.

It's only ~15 Kilometers across the map, and that's something your average Soldier/Athlete can run easy.
