Drop in FPS depending on server/random

Recommended Posts

I've been having this problem yesterday - and only yesterday. Basically sometimes my FPS would only go as high as mid 30s, EVEN WHEN LOOKING AT THE SKY. I do not have everything set to VERY HIGH, in fact everything is either disabled, low or normal. I've noticed that on some servers I get more FPS then on others. I honestly cannot play an FPS with less than 60 frames, as aiming just gets so sketchy it's ridiculous.

I have the Radeon 6870, not too old, but this GPU run BF3 on High at higher FPS than DayZ on medium/low... I have also never had any problems running Crysis (original) almost completely maxed out with just under 60fps.

I'm not sure if there's a fix for this, but it makes the PVP kinda difficult.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Server performance can affect your client performance. Some of them will cause you to have a really low FPS no matter what. Also, I've noticed the game will bog down badly for me sometimes after playing for a while. See if restarting ARMA 2 fixes it. All that aside, ARMA 2 is somewhat notorious for being badly optimized. I wouldn't expect it to run as good as something like Battlefield 3, and you certainly won't be seeing a solid 60 FPS in Cherno or Elektro unless you have a monstrous rig. I've read this is different in the vanilla game, but for Day Z in particular most of my friends' framerates bounce around between 30 and 60 depending on how many buildings are around.
