sushimaster 6 Posted August 24, 2015 (edited) Players run to fast, there are lots of trucks to help players travel. Time to get used to running like people instead of terminators.I don't know if you were raised in the jungle by a family of three toed sloths... but no. it isn't.. It takes around 5 minutes to run a kilometer in DayZ.. A mile takes around 9 minutes. I don't know about you, but I'm about 6 feet tall & I can run a mile in less than 9 minutes. As far as sprinting is concerned... Yeah, a 5 minute mile seems fast, and it is... because it's sprinting. Ever sprint a whole mile? Yeah, I think it's safe to assume you either haven't or your are abnormally short. 5-7 minutes is about right.A more realistic system for fatigue would be nice though. IF you character eventually just collapsed like his/her legs were broken after a few miles... that would be about right. I ran a mile barefoot once... couldn't walk for a week. The pads of my feet were replaced by two giant blisters. Haven't tried it in DayZ yet... Edited August 24, 2015 by sushimaster
ZomboWTF 527 Posted August 24, 2015 (edited) Bicycles <3 A bicycle Hell's Angels bandit gang needs to be formed! After all, rider's jackets exist. Hells ankles maybe? Required to wear short canvas pants and a riders jacket, along with athletic shoes Edited August 24, 2015 by Zombo
shadowranger333 24 Posted August 24, 2015 Yeah with sprinting around so fast melee is rediculous. It just looks buggy when people run like that. Dayz is supposed to be hard. Of course I agree vehicles need to have more spawns and require less repairs.

It takes around 5 minutes to run a kilometer in DayZ.. No, this is wrong. Running speed is a bit over 23km/h. This being a game, the character should be able to run faster than we would in real life but the current situation without any stamina system in place is just ridiculous. hemmo 55 Posted August 24, 2015 To be really honest, if i see a bambi sprinting towards me, i try to kill him or atleast make him bleeding before he is close by. Just because i know, when he is close, he is going to abuse this tactic which greatly favours him! In other words, it favours KOS and that i find wrong. Funkmaster Rick 373 Posted August 25, 2015 Even mildly unpredictable side-to-side running makes you an extremely difficult target at current speeds. I once convinced a bambi to dance around like that while some scrub with an AK unloaded on him, so I could sneak up on him, then we'd split the gear. I'd offered to drive if necessary, but the bambi only took one bullet out of two clips. narf sped plz

At that speed you would be moving at 12km per hour, which is a perfectly normal speed. The devs (i believe) have stated the current running speed is set at 30km per hour (due to the lack of vehicles). Which is almost triple the speed you seem to think it is. Although I don't doubt your capable of sprinting a mile in 9 mins or a bit less, I doubt you could do it carrying gear that weighs as much as an SAS commando's kit. I further doubt that you could maintain that speed permanently. Our Avatars can do all these things iv just mentioned, and its broken.

I was just playing earlier & I wanted to actually, you know, check the numbers.Hmm... let's see... sprinting 100 meters in DayZ took me approximately 20 seconds & sprinting 250 meters took me about 45 seconds... That's ~4.8 minutes to sprint a mile. So, more like 20kph. Which is fast, for sure, but it isn't supernatural.I'm doing this in .58 & it's not that I don't believe you guys or anything like that, but... Are you sure your sources aren't just outdated?I completely agree that the game would be better with some adjustments/additions.
