Hunting Knife - DayZ Mod

The tool in it's current state only allows players to gut animals; as DayZ is supposed to be as close to a real life zombie apocalypse as Arma 2 will allow, it seems a mystery to me why you cannot equip the hunting knife as a melee weapon to defend yourself against the undead or just shank another player camping in a bush.

 

This feature has already been implemented and displayed with the hatchet, the hatchet technically is a very short range gun, changing the hunting knife to work in the same way could really change how players react in an urban environment where a gun or a hatchet cannot be found, yet a hunting knife can.

 

It was just an idea i thought of when i realized that i couldn't kill a boar in the woods because i didn't have a hatchet and i didn't want to fire my rifle.

 

Give it some thought devs :)

Main reason is the way arma handles melee. Your melee weapon fires a bullet trying to do a stabbing effect with a short blade is going to look rough as hell.

It makes so much sense all of a sudden.

From now on, in order to stay in immersion, I will pretend my crowbar fires magical bullets.
