hekp 223 Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) I could be wrong, i only had a chance to speak with one cholera survivor, but from what he said, it seems cholera makes you lose on blood. I take it that comes with the fluid loss. Pardon if im mistaken. I tried asking my buddy, Mr.Google about it, but since its a quite new thing in dayz, he wouldnt let go off WHO sites. Anyway, here are some symptoms; Diarrhea. Cholera-related diarrhea comes on suddenly and may quickly cause dangerous fluid loss — as much as a quart (about 1 liter) an hour. Diarrhea due to cholera often has a pale, milky appearance that resembles water in which rice has been rinsed (rice-water stool).Nausea and vomiting. Occurring especially in the early stages of cholera, vomiting may persist for hours at a time.Dehydration. Dehydration can develop within hours after the onset of cholera symptoms. Depending on how many body fluids have been lost, dehydration can range from mild to severe. A loss of 10 percent or more of total body weight indicates severe dehydration.Signs and symptoms of cholera dehydration include irritability, lethargy, sunken eyes, a dry mouth, extreme thirst, dry and shriveled skin that's slow to bounce back when pinched into a fold, little or no urine output, low blood pressure, and an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia).Im wondering, did any of you threw up? If not, I really hope this will be tweaked and the disease will be more brutal. Im not asking for a diarrhea animation, but vomitting should be there. I only want it to be more precise/distinct (in case it isnt yet) because that would mean you can introduce a much more silent nuisance for every survivor out there. If we look at the symptoms;Signs and symptoms of intestinal infection include:NauseaWeaknessLoss of appetiteAbdominal painDiarrheaWeight loss and inadequate absorption of nutrients from foodWe notice it shares eventual "blood loss" in world of dayz by inadequate absorbtion of nutrients from food, whilst cholera will take care of your blood loss by dehydration. From gaming point of view; your screen goes grey; same symptom. To make these two more distinct, Consider symptoms such as "hungry" status not popping up, or the worm halving the ammount of KCAL intake. A survivor would need to keep an eye on this as there would be no other symptoms. "Disease" or should i say worm, should have a random possibility to "evolve" Invasive infectionIf tapeworm larvae have migrated out of your intestines and formed cysts in other tissues, they can eventually cause organ and tissue damage, resulting in:FeverCystic masses or lumpsAllergic reactions to the larvaeBacterial infectionsNeurological signs and symptoms, including seizuresFever kicks in and adds dehydration which afaik results bloomy/grey screen. Note that my medical knowledge stops at CPR and first aid. I also watched first 6 seasons of House and 9 seasons of Scrubs. I apologise for any possible mistakes. Cure? Garlic, lots of it. tobias winfro 305 Posted April 4, 2015 I've been trying to test the new diseases/sickness by drinking unpurified pond water and eating uncooked meat, so far I've had no luck. Either zeds get me, players kill me or I die of starvation. I will get more time to test this weekend but so far I'm digging the changes but haven't been able to get solid data on the new toys the dev team gave us to play around with. I am curious about this too, if I get any solid data I will try to post it.
Draco122 412 Posted April 4, 2015 From what I've found from talking from a fellow cholera survivor, he mentions that at the time he was very low on blood after a gunfight and drinking from a pond until he met up with his friend about half an hour later. He mentioned before that while he was in the "Healthy" status he did not catch anything. I can surmise that you'll catch Cholera when your low on blood. My questions are how long does it take to develop symptoms? And do tetracycline tablets clear it up or will it take several doses to get rid of whatever is ailing you?
