randomspawn 215 Posted March 11, 2015 randomspawn is one I've often seen write things of the opinion that basically if you're not engaging in PVP the game has limited value. Albeit that's changed a lot as additional features have been added. Just know that there's a segment of the community who have killed hardly anyone and there's some who kill everyone they see (and a LOT who live in between).I've been pigeonholed!!! I like to think my lack of posts in 6 months has cleared me of such suspicions, but I guess not. Oh well. Either way, I was merely stating to OP that after playing solo for a while, he will likely want to engage more with others. Whether that is PVP or not is not really the point. The most logical scenario is teaming up for PVP, or being a solo PVP artist. It is probably hard to team up for survivalist type stuff, but I guess it's possible. The main point is he will likely want to try all the ways to play, and decide from there what he wants long-term. Nothing like a few consecutive ladder deaths to make you mad though. Hopefully that will be fixed one day, but until then, be careful where you climb.
ColdAtrophy 1850 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) SURVIVED DAY 3! I almost died once and had to call up a few medics. They didn't come to my aid but they gave me a crash course on how to fix myself and get healthy again over Teamspeak. I secured new clothing after the zombie attack and ladder glitch that wrecked almost all of my gear and stocked up on a ton of ammo. I left NWAF and made my way to Vavilovo, with no real clear goal other than to see what else I could find and explore. I carefully checked each house and gathered a few light supplies. I made my way through town and came to some railroad tracks. At this point, I checked my compass and as I was getting my bearings, I noticed a plume of smoke. The fuck is that?, I said to myself. An awesome smoking jackpot is what it was. I got an AUG with a 40 round magazine, an M65 Field Jacket, a Plate Carrier (can't wait to find the rest of this set, which will make my inevitable death all the more heartbreaking), and a Skull Balaclava. Remember how you guys all say, "Don't get attached to your gear"? It's happening and I can't seem to help it. My shit has become stuff. (Kudos if you get that reference :) ) Edited March 12, 2015 by ColdAtrophy

I didn't agree with your stance, but I respected and remembered it. Welcome back. :P

Death By Crowbar 1213 Posted March 12, 2015 I was murdered today. That will happen a lot. Was it a snipe? Cold blood on the street with an ax? Did someone double cross you?
ColdAtrophy 1850 Posted March 12, 2015 That will happen a lot. Was it a snipe? Cold blood on the street with an ax? Did someone double cross you? I was in a building at the NWAF. It was one of the ones that has a jail cell just inside the back door. As far as I knew, the server I have been playing on was empty at that time. I failed to take into account the fact that people server hop the airfields. A zombie glitched into the building and I had my AUG equipped. I panicked a little and shot the zombie rather than using my suppressed M1911 or my axe. I'm pretty sure he heard the single shot. He waited just under the window for the jail cell room and when I stepped out, he ripped into me with automatic fire at like 5 meters. I didn't have time to really react. I tried to return fire and move back but I died too quickly. I have some plans for how to avoid this in the future and this experience has made me reevaluate the way I go about clearing buildings. I don't think I'm ever going to approach hot spots like the airfield without a friend or two in the future.
hekp 223 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) For some reason i love reading the newcommers adventures. Altho its always pretty much the same story, the actors different :D I recommend you not to walk on firestation&ATC roofs once you're geared (desync can break your legs) .If you're entering military objects on your own, spend a couple of minutes monitoring the area.Remember, you're allot harder to spot if you dont move. You will "sunk" back into the bakground. It's the movement you are looking for. Always plan your route in advance. Always assume you will have to run. When dealing with zombs, kill them fast, quiet and out of anyones sight.Dont ever eat or drink (my friend does it all the time and i swear to god one day i will shoot him, pretending its not me, just to teach him a lesson lol)Dont read AK101 inscriptions in the middle of NWEAF (yup, my friend...I really need to shoot him lol)Move fast, pick what you came for & leave. If you think you heard something, you probably did.If you think someone probably heard you, he did.If you think you are being followed, you are.If you think im trying to make you paranoid, you are right, but its for your own good :P Edited March 12, 2015 by halp
ColdAtrophy 1850 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) For some reason i love reading the newcommers adventures. Based on my experiences, this is solid advice. I have a couple questions for you guys. I was just killed again, but this time it was spectacularly weird. http://www.izurvive.com/#c=7;-76;6 My friend wanted to meet up here and check out the base. He was still a little way south and I got there first. He then logged out. I decided to check it out and see what all was there. Is this a commonly looted area? Do people go to check it out often? I approached the building there that looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/rr3NGPj.jpg When I got to the double doors at the back of the building, I immediately knew something was up. I had passed dropped stuff all over the place. The doors were closed. I switched to my fully loaded AKM, took a deep breath, and started looking around me. I then opened the doors and as I moved forward I saw a pile of dropped magazines and a dropped drum mag. Definitely bait, it set all kinds of alarms off in my head. I immediately readied my weapon and moved into the corner so I could see the stairs and then to my right where the jail cell door is. The attacker opened fire but I couldn't see him at all. Not even the slightest hint. Then the jail cell door swung open, and still I couldn't see anyone whatsoever. Bullets kept hitting me and then I died. How far away can you hear someone sprinting? I know it's hard to give me an exact number, but any kind of anecdotal evidence would be appreciated. I don't have a good feel for how far sound travels. Why is it that I never saw my attacker at all? I died pretty quick, but I never saw anyone at all, he clearly had plenty of time to set the ambush, and knew I was coming. Unless, of course, this is just what the guy does all the time just to see who he can ensnare. In that case, he likely already had it all setup and merely heard me coming. How long can a person stay in one area like that? Don't you need to go get food and drink at some point? How often do people even go there? Is this a "hotspot"? Any insight would be appreciated. hekp 223 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) Is this a commonly looted area? Do people go to check it out often? :) Very often, very hot spot. Veresnik mil base is just next to NWEAF, a lil south from vybor & right next to a sniping hill so it's a popular survivors destination. It's probably the next waypoint for many peoplethat hit green mountain&zeleno.I probably had more encounters @Veresnik than NWEAF due to its small size. It's not that uncommon to come across a loot someone dropped. I've been there; dropping ak&its mags for another assault rifle.I do throw them in bushes tho, but many dont.If the stuff you've seen was ruined you've probably found remains of someone who died not long ago (unless its presistant it happen this restart) As for your death, did you hear where the shots were comming from? Could there be two? In what direction were you facing at the time when you got shot.It sounds like one of the glitches low lifes abuse untill they fix it. You can glitch yourself in the prison building wall and shoot from there without being seen.Did you close the prison door behind you? Anyway, it would be nice to hear some more details before we jump to conclusions :) About the sprinting sound i have no idea, but my wild guess would be around 20-49m (voip is set to 50m i believe?), just enough to hear anyone sprinting around the building you're in.Be advised audio is not reworked yet, there is still allot of sound bugs. ColdAtrophy 1850 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) The jail cell door was already closed as I entered. When I looked to the right (albeit quickly) into the jail cell as I walked through the door, I saw no one. Then I saw the pile of mags and knew I was being toyed with. I moved forward and to the left into the corner and turned so that I could first look straight ahead and clearly saw no one behind the stairs. Then I looked up the stairs, still not moving, gun readied, and saw no one. I then felt the first shot hit me and started to turn more to the right, now looking back towards the jail cell door. I still saw no one. I swiped around looking back to my left and then again to my right. Still nothing. The jail cell door swung open and still I saw no one. Then I died. This sounds drawn out but it all happened in the span of about 10 seconds or less. Edited March 12, 2015 by ColdAtrophy
hekp 223 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) Kind of like this, only more to your left ? If you didn't check the cell properly, you might have missed a guy there; People often crounch there and peek outside the prison, especialy when they're in groups. I prefer to camp the corner right next to the staircase when my buddy does the looting. I do kinda doubt that you would fail to spot him. ColdAtrophy 1850 Posted March 12, 2015 @halp Bingo man. Bingo. That is exactly my POV, only just a touch more to the left and in the corner. I was trying to maximize the angles I could see while not leaving my back exposed. He could have been in there for sure. I didn't open the door and check. I merely peeked in without opening the door and rather quickly. He very well could have been hiding there. I just thought it was weird that even when I looked back towards the cell, I saw no one.
