venatos 0 Posted March 8, 2015 My system Spec:GTX 780 Ti Zotaci7 4790k8GB RAM850W PSUScreenshot of my GPU performance while playing DayZ in Electro: I get about 20-30 fps in town on medium settings, while i saw a videos on youtube with similar specs with extremely better performance.Outside of towns i get normal 50/60 fps..I have tried many different solutions but it seems as my GPU never uses its full potential? Is this to do with the "EARLY" stage of the game, or could it be my GPU's problem or what else..?Please help.Regards VenatoS
BleedoutBill 1636 Posted March 8, 2015 The short answer is yes, low GPU usage is pretty much par for the course (through the end of the year, probably). This game is CPU intensive and it doesn't require a lot of GPU horsepower. Secondly, I would expect a wee bit better out of your hardware combination. How have you configured the game and what resolution are you running?

I spend tons of money and get shit. Fucking DayZ... a year has passed and still shit didn't improve. Then i tried the Nividia Auto Settings but still same shit. I really need help with this.. :/
starthealmighty 597 Posted March 8, 2015 unfortunately Dayz has terrible optimization, mainly due to the map itself and the increase of polygons. which is why the big towns are so bad. you pretty much have to turn down/off most of your settings to get good FPS on the game unfortunately. venatos 0 Posted March 8, 2015 Yep, lots of people think: More money = More performance Whereas it's actually Certain Parts = More Performance And I only spend £400Well still if the shitty computers with cheaper components can get good FPS why can't I?Also i've seen youtubers with same or similar specs getting crazy FPS on Ultra.Explain that to me. BleedoutBill 1636 Posted March 8, 2015 Unfortunately, Nvidia's recommendations aren't all that. I've found that the best strategy is to max out all of the GPU related settings and minimize the CPU related settings. Even with an i7, it probably makes sense to make some modest adjustments to your draw and shadow distance, in your config file. Then, assuming that you have suitably powerful hardware, you can bump up some of the CPU settings bit, by bit until you find a good compromise. Keep in mind that all servers are not created equal and your fps is linked to server performance. Also, the current 0.54 (experimental) build does not have brilliant fps, perhaps due to all of the vehicles and animal AI that have just been implemented. Prior to 0.54 it was extremely unusual for my i7 / GTX780 to drop below 50fps, even in the big towns. In 0.54, it routinely drops into the twenties.
Anthony Bugg 3 Posted March 8, 2015 It is like this because the devs want to work on adding new hats rather than actually fixing the game xD
cash81 506 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) I've found that the best strategy is to max out all of the GPU related settings and minimize the CPU related settings which are the gpu related ones and the cpu ones? i'd love to have this running a bit smoother lol Edited March 9, 2015 by cash81
BleedoutBill 1636 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) which are the gpu related ones and the cpu ones? i'd love to have this running a bit smoother lolThis guy must be on to something, because the devs and the forum admns have referred to his guide on several occasions:http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=216291078 I have found his advice to be pretty sound, with the exception of the launch parameters. Several of these have been depricated, since this article was written. Do not use the -nosplash, or the -nopause arguments, as they can interfere wth the new menus. The other arguments for CPU, GPU and RAM probably won't make any difference at all, unless the game has somehow misidentified your hardware. The -winxp argument can make a big FPS difference, but it causes stability issues (crashes) for many who attempt to use it. With your 780ti, you can safely crank up the terrain, texture detail and texture filtering. They must be set to high, or very high in order to offload these tasks to the GPU. There is no reason why the 780 can't manage the very high settings. For a baseline, set everything else to very low, or if possible, off. Even with an i7 I will edit the config files. I think I have the complexity at 500000 and the view distance at 3000. I have the shadow distance relatively high, because I like the water to look like water. On my AMD machine, I have these numbers adjusted significantly lower, but I still have the terrain and texture settings on very high. If you get reasonable performance, you can bump up the clouds, or antialiasing, or whatever your personal hot button calls for, until the game performance starts to suffer. I like clouds, shadows and AA as much as the next guy, but together, they will bog down even the most powerful i7 CPUs. There will still be lots of trial and error, but hopefully this will give you a good starting point. Edit:I just noticed this post from earlier today:http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/221894-increase-performance-by-tazzy/?p=2229958 There is a lot of good advice here and none of it conflicts with my observations. venatos 0 Posted March 9, 2015 Here this guy has same specs and look at the settings he is able to play with: I will try the guides and shit u have sent above and see if that does anything at all, thou it seem like i've already done most of the things they are saying to do.
