Character keeps getting reset

So if i leave a server and join a different one my character gets reset. I had a fully geared out guy, then left the server turned off my computer and about 3 hours later log back into a random server and boom my guy was gone

 

Why does this happen and how do i fix it.

Verify that you are joining a server of the same category.

 

Public = 1st person or 1st/3rd person, you will have a different character for each.

Private = each server will generate a different character.

so does that mean i would have to stay on a      Public = 1st/3rd person server all the time and i would lose my guy

If you join a server that is in the same category you should keep your character.

You can find which server you last joined by going into My Docs/ DayZ/ name DAYZPROFILE.

Scroll down until you find : (for example)...

 

lastMPServer="109.169.60.28:2314";

lastMPServerName="DayZ UK 0-02 (Experimental/Unstable)";

You can rejoin the server by entering the ip using the REMOTE tab in the server browser.

 

If you still have a new character this means that the server you join can not fetch your data from the central Hive where your info is stored.

A poor internet connection may result in this happening.

 

Always check for best server ping and that there are players in-game.

Do not join a server directly after a restart, give it a few minutes to load.
