HarryPotter (DayZ) 172 Posted March 3, 2015 So I was thinking. Last night im out in the woods and get caught in the rain after a server restart. The weather goes from bright sunshine to heavy rain. Will it ever be possible to put a rain coat on over your shirt? I was wearing a police shirt so it should be possible to pull a rain coat on over it right?? So you could fold it up and pack it into your back taking up 2 slots then just whip it out when the rain starts. Im sure at some point we will have a more realistic mechanic for getting too hot while running about and will need the option to be able to layer clothing.... rossums 2190 Posted March 3, 2015 I don't think they will allow 'layering' so to speak but that's more to keep the game balanced.At the moment you have to make sacrifices to have things waterproofed - they are generally lighter garments and the bags etc. have less slots than their non-waterproof counterparts.The same thing goes for camouflage, you have to sacrifice a lot of carrying capacity in order to use a Ghille Suit.All of this forces players to keep equipment for each eventuality in order to ensure they are properly protected and I reckon it will work quite well. When you start removing some of these restrictions your remove some of the strategy involved with selecting your gear. Once you start removing challenge from a game, you start to remove the fun (even if you think you would enjoy it better) history shows (at least my history) that games without challenges quickly become boring and forgotten. Besides, you can already carry around a raincoat. As you said, it only takes up 2 slots. If a rain emergency comes up take off your police shirt, put it in your bag, and don the raincoat. You'll have to make some decisions if your inventory is full since you'll lose some slots with the swtich, but as I said earlier, thats part of the game play, and part of the challenge.
