Win32

Recommended Posts

Installing Win 7 didn't miraculously make me make any more sketchy clicks, so not sure what your point is. And yes many times it is a matter of what OS you use, unless you are the alien mothership in independence day. Not many people use XP anymore which is the reason why people aren't developing much malware specifically for it anymore, all the casual PC users now have Win 7. On top of that Win XP has been patched and refined for a decade, it is a simpler operating system with less holes and vulnerabilities, so regardless of any support it is still more secure than Win 7. In fact, they were still releasing security updates as of the time that I installed Win 7, which wasn't very long ago.

Look harder, I wasn't the only person who used XP or XP compatibility to run DayZ faster. DayZ doesn't need that much memory to run smoothly, not even close to the max amount a 32 bit Win XP OS can provide. My DayZ ran on windows XP with crap system specs faster than a lot of people with new $1000 computers, I often found myself helping others optimize their rediculously OP systems for DayZ while playing on a tin can.

Yeah but the key is that XP is not supported anymore so when new security flaws appears there won't be anyone to fix them.

So...apparently I cannot play DayZ anymore :( is because I have WinXP?

Do you have problem with written text? You know . . . A = a, B = b, C = c . . . etc...etc...etc.... So open your grammar book from school, refresh your knowledge and than open "Minimum Requirements" of DayZ and READ carefully all letters (compiled into words) there (especially the part of supported OS) ;-)

I've got a copy of Windows Millenium kicking around, and I think I've got CD's for 98 and 95 too! But I don't expect them to run DayZ.

The bottom line is that EOL for OS's *seem* like they come faster and faster, when in reality roughly the same amount of time is passing between major versions. However, we get comfortable with what's supported and works well (I'm on Win7 for example rather than 8), but I know darn well EOL is coming for 7 sooner than later and I've got to keep an eye towards 8 and more likely 10. Let XP go sir... like Spock, it lived long and prospered, but it's been laid to rest. Boldly go to a newer supported OS.

Some guy found out that DayZ can be run on an "not supported" OS with better fps.

It stops working and now he gets trolled for what exactly?

Is it really so bad to have more fps?

Is it really so hard to actually read an OP?

Let´s translate this into something easier to understand for the average Windows user:

He used Lego bricks from a pirate ship to enhance a castle.

He knew these bricks were not ment to be used with that specific castle but as it was better he used them anyway.

A pure gaming rig does not need "support", anti-virus progs or firewalls.

If you don´t watch porn with it or browse at all you will be fine.

If it needs something you can always download it with your usual computer and send it via network.

That´s why I have two of them... one Wincrap and a Linux one for the real stuff.

Yeah, but I've been playing since day one on a WinXP, so the minimum (supported or not) went back as far as WinXP at least. Anyway, my question was answered...

Come on you lazy developers, DayZ doesn't run on my copy of Windows 95. This is complete crap; I shouldn't be expected to update my OS every twenty years, you guys should accommodate me as I paid for your product!

I never accused the devs for the game not run on my XP :s what the hell is wrong with you? I wanted to make sure, that it was the right reason causing this...and at least someone here knows how to read, becuase he answered my question.
