Names are for noobs 0 Posted July 1, 2012 As of right now, all of our characters are the exact same upon spawn in terms of skills and abilities. This is unrealistic. In real life, we have jobs that set us apart from one another in terms of both skills and abilities. Doctors are great at healing people.Professional soccer players are very fast, and can outrun just about anyone. Soldiers can reload faster and shoot more accurately than your average Joe.So what I suggest is that upon the creation of a new character, the player is asked what he/she used to do before the zombie invasion. Depending on the choice, the player will receive a buff of some type. Please feel free to discuss, disagree, and argue for or against this suggestion, but don't be stupid about it. :s
DemonGroover 8836 Posted July 1, 2012 All the charcters are the same - i agree. We are all blood administering, car fixing, sniper shooting, huey flying supermen.I dont like the idea of buffs at startup but something along the lines of if you do something a lot you get better at it. For example if you repair 5 cars eventually you wont need as much scrap metal or new engine parts to fix another car.

So something along the lines of the more I shoot my gun, the tighter my grouping get? What do you think of reading books to gain skills? Like if I read a book about edible berries, I'd be able to go into the forest and harvest the berries for a nice meal.
DemonGroover 8836 Posted July 1, 2012 Yeah i think as you do something you just naturally get better at it. At first your hand shakes as you aim your gun, but after you take down a few Zeds your aim gets better. Likewise i dont see how we are suddenly experts at headshots with a DMR from 800m.Skillbooks? Not sure. I suppose there could be some things that can be learned from books etc, like knowing what berries you can eat, but i wouldnt want to pick up Helicopter Weekly and suddenly find that i can do barrel rolls in a Huey. They could only be for things such as picking berries if they are to remain realistic. I suppose books could help you a little bit with proper shooting technique as well.
rovenkursk 4 Posted July 2, 2012 You can customize your character in the main menu!!he means skill wise, not looks i don't think. Although it would be pretty cool if you picked 'doctor' (let's say) and your model is a doctor.
