Spirit (DayZ) 3 Posted May 15, 2012 I think that the donated project thing is a good idea' date=' I cant recall the site nameah! kickstarter. Why not do a kickstarter for the game Rocket? I know youve thought about it from another thread, but, it cant hurt to set one up, and let people put their money behind their postings. it would also give you a good core group from whom you can listen to regarding feedback etc, since clearly.. they are invested in it being an awesome game.I think if you put this on kickstarter, you would be surprised at the support generated.[/quote']Completely agree on the donation idea.Well, thank you guys for the help I appreciate it. I don't think he'll put it up for sale now that it's been announced the next Arma 2 patch DayZ will be included in the patch. (Possible for Arma 3 it'd be for sale, but I doubt it.)I'll make sure to purchase Arma 2 as soon as possible. :)
billyangstadt 272 Posted May 15, 2012 A one time purchase is more than OK for such hard work, however, I probably wouldn't participate any longer if it went subscription based or content became payware.
tyler_1111@hotmail.com 0 Posted May 15, 2012 many are like me who simply bought arma for this mod. would like to see it release as a full fledge game on arma 3 but there is only 1 catch...... it will have to be innovative as hell because many of us already paid once for this mod so in order to make us pay a second time has to at least make us feel like we arent getting gouged
aLmAnZo (DayZ) 21 Posted May 15, 2012 DayZ is only a mod, and not a game. It builds upon a large amount of work by a large team, and is thus on this account not a game on itself. However, it has brought BI quite an amount of revenue, and if you have read abit around the ARMA community, you would have known by now that BI is considering to include DayZ in the following patch for ARMA II.However, those pointing out ACRE and ACE are on point. Those mods by far required more work than this mod. They take only donations for their public versions. ACRE has a professional version aimed at the military costumers of VBS 2 though, and thus makes money of their work.Either way, I would pay for this mod if it became a stand alone product. But as it is a mod, it lives only becouse of the game it builds upon, let's not forget that. An engine in development for 20 years now (it's the same engine used in operation flashpoint and ARMA I). People should realize the enormous amount of work put into that engine over the years. In other words, DayZ would not have seen the day, if it wasn't for the fantastic work of Bohemia Interactive (where Rocket works). He knows the engine well, and I would suspect that he knew that fact.
thomas.bowyer@hotmail.co.uk 25 Posted May 15, 2012 To0t whilst i see what you mean when you say 'paid for this mod' I dont mean to be pedantic, but we didnt pay a penny for it. we paid for Arma2:co. and as such Rocket has/owes us nothing atall. even if this was considered nothing more then a test. a test to see if a game like this could float. he could shut down servers tomorrow, declare he was making it for ARMA3. and I absolutely guarantee you this game would NOT lose players on release based on 'I paid 20 bucks for arma2 and played a FREE mod in alpha.. no WAY am i paying now!'IF thats the attitude they have, then surely this kind of game is wrong for them? Spirit (DayZ) 3 Posted May 15, 2012 However' date=' it has brought BI quite an amount of revenue, and if you have read abit around the ARMA community, you would have known by now that BI is considering to include DayZ in the following patch for ARMA II.[/quote']This thread was made before that was announced to the public that it was being built into Arma 2. Please do some research before making that accusation. Also, Faith you're misunderstanding me, I'm not in the financial state to buy Arma 2: Combined Operations $30 then another game any time soon. I'm glad you have life easy, but I have to take care of myself, and can't afford to be buying games left and right within the same time period. I don't want to waste $30 if later I don't have enough money to purchase DayZ itself.I hope now you understand. Life isn't easy. This all doesn't matter anymore, it's already announced DayZ is being built into Arma 2, and again this thread was made BEFORE that was announced so don't be hating on me. Fecal 0 Posted May 16, 2012 Truth. as much as this mod dezerves money to be paid for it. It would pretty pretty fucking stupid to have to pay for arma 2, and OA (Which 90% Will NEVER play standalone) and then have to buy this Mod.A solution would be to make it so you only have to purchase arma 2, and include the required data from OA into the mod.
