Can I play on "persistence off" and then carry progress over to "persistence on"?

This is a really dumb, "noob" question and I have been playing DayZ for some time, but never really thought about this.

 

I play on regular persistence servers and have gotten some good progress. Say I were to ...

 

1. Join a NON-PERSISTENT server

2. Pick up some items and move locations

3. Join a PERSISTENT server

 

Would my location and gear be saved, or would it revert back to what it was before going into a non-persistent server?

 

Sorry this is such a silly question - hope to get some feedback.

Public is public so yes you can take stuff from persistence off to persistence on servers.
