Skinning kills

Killed a boar and couldn't complete the action to skin it. Is this another situation where I need to press F11 before starting the action? Or are boars just bugged right now? Also, can somebody tell me how much leather and of what animal I need to craft the leather vest?

I had the same problem trying to skin animals using a steak knife, I wasn't sure if it was the knife or if skinning is bugged.
What type of knife were you using?

Deer pelt + Garden Lime = Tanned Leather
Cow pelt + Garden Lime = Tanned Leather
4x Tanned leather + Leather sewing kit = Leather Vest

  If you hold W or whatever button you use to walk forward before you begin the action, and don't let go, it should work. I've had this problem with crafting a stone knife, splints, and skinning animals, it seems to work for them all.

I've got a feeling that I always have to try two times (skin and quarter). First time I hit the action it simply stops after a few seconds. Then I choose "cancel" and try again, this time successful.
