Failed to start battle eye service loop. Dayz wont even start up.

Recommended Posts

Ok umm. i dont really know where to start with this, im new to this forum so this may just be a splurge of writing, im sorry this is going to be a long post.

So i hadnt been on Dayz for a few days and we all know dayz got a new patch and a new battleye update within the last few dayz.

so i jumped on today, dayz started up fine, i went to connect to a server and a cmd style box popped up saying something along the lines of "updating battleye system, this may take a few minutes" once battleye finished updating the game closed. so i started it again and the exact same thing happened. then a third time. so i restarted my pc and tried again but this time Dayz wouldn't even open and a cmd window popped up saying "Installing BattlEye Service." then "Successfully installed BattlEye Service" then "Failed to start BattlEye service" repeatedly over and over again asking for administrative consent each time.

so i did the usual, verify my dayz files/cache via steam, restarted steam, deleted dayz and redownload/installed. i even deleted steam, all my games, everything linked to steam, dayz or battleye in any way and re-downloaded the lot. but it still happens. ive been looking around the internet and forums for countless hours trying everything i can find

such as deleting the battle eye folder, and verifying files, deleting the battleye folder in my app data, manually installing the battle eye patch, disabling my antivirus, adding exceptions to my antivirus for any steam related application. ive tried launching through steam, through the directory, running every dayz application/shortcut i can as administrator, ive tried updating all sorts of software and drivers. ive tried starting my pc in safe mode with networking and deleting steam dayz files etc and re-downloading multiple times. ive tried rolling back my pc to a backup a few days prior.

Ok so i have no idea what to try next, after hours upon hours of trying i still cant find a way to sort it. as im typing this i left the application loop running, it has been for about 45 minutes and the loop is going on and on and on.

hopefully someone here with some knowledge can throw some my way i would really appreciate it.

and i apologise for the long post, i just tried to give as much information as possible

FIXED......

Solution

This guide worked on windows 8.1 64bit and may or may not work for other operating systems

So...

1. Head to your Control Panel (small icon view) > Folder Options > select the "View" tab > under "Hidden Files and Folders" check "Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives" > click apply and ok

ensure you do step 1 as step 2 requires that you can see any hidden files on your PC.

2. go to (this may vary for people, the drives may be different and the sub folders may be different for operating systems ( 32bit / 64bit) C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\BattlEye

3. Move the 2 Files in this folder (BEService.exe and BEService_dayz.exe) so another folder elsewhere on you computer (in case of back up)

4. Restart your computer

5. Run Steam as administrator and open Dayz or run Dayz as administrator

6. Accept the terms and conditions and confirmation of changes again and you should be good to go

Ok i seem to have solved the issue

The problem was something to do with the BEService.exe and BEService_dayz.exe files on my computer. Im not sure if or what was wrong with them but deleting them (backing them up just in case) did the trick and then re-accepting the terms and conditions and the confirmation of changed.

If you have a problem following this guide i would be more than happy to make a video with a detailed tutorial of this along with the steps of adding the files to you exceptions list as i did previously.
