You can salute by pressing the star button on left side of the enter key. (not numpad enter).

Personally, killing saluting person depends whether do I trust him or not.

Well, I'd feel bad about it (more than usual), but I don't play friendly with anybody who isn't in my group.

Of course, that may also be biased by the fact that I've seen a guy toting a flashlight shoot someone in the back of the head with the Makarov we gave him no two minutes earlier. So even the most defenseless survivor could be a clever ruse to get your guard down.

Sad to see so many people lost faith in random occurrences, my goal is to befriend a player within the game without the horrid "squad making' in forums.

If you really have to metagame (aka): use the forums to gain trustworthy companions, where's the fun in that?

I understand the karma system being broken, you can't tell who's truly a bandit and who's a survivor.

But in my taste, nothing beats the experience you get when you befriend some stranger in the middle of no where and not get shot in the back.

Those are the experiences that I, personally, remember and am proud sharing.

Unless there are different keyboard layouts for different versions of the game

the default salute key is the backslash key "\"

I have the North American version of the game.
