Wait for host and other server crashes

Recommended Posts

It seems as if servers have been crashing like crazy since 0.52 came, half of the time the server I am on doesn't even make it to the natural restart where you get the 'No Message Received' counter, you can continue to play the game but you can't move items, open doors, or anything like that, oddly enough voice chat still works if you were close to someone when the server went down.

I've also noticed that when I join servers off the front page like 3/5 times they will be stuck on Wait for Host and the time/number of players on them never changes, so why are the servers so unstable now? It wasn't like this before we jumped to .52, like when they pushed the update through really quick and the DDOS attacks started happening. Is that still ongoing maybe?

The same has been happening to me. I have not played because of that, it is so frustrating to be running around only to have the game crash every 15 min. or so. Just praying  the next update eases the frequency of the drops.

Everything is worse with each update.

If your bag is full and hit x to drop item on ground it disappears.

I just broke my legs standing still on a 2nd story floor.

Zombies fly through closed doors after 1 year of development.

The hot keys are even less responsive now than months ago.

Jesus..... Is this the end of Dayz?

I have only ever had these problems on completely full servers and I've also noticed that the server lags tends to correspond with messages saying that a player has been kicked for having a ping too high or their connection isn't responding.

When I play on half full servers (20 people) I have encountered none of these issues but that's just what I've noticed.

I have noticed improvements each update.
If you are standing still and your legs break it is generally related to server desync, Pick a different server with less people and you will be less likely to encounter this.
Zombies going through walls is related to server desync and not their path finding, So once again pick a different server.
Hot keys not responding isn't that there is something wrong with it's programming it is a server issue again.
Or at least this is what I read or imagined that I read somewhere.

Some servers are hosted on such crap hardware I'm not surprised the server crashes every 15minutes when put under load.

No we have been moving our stashes around in various low traffic servers and noticed that they crash in this same manor. As for all of that guys other problems, they happen regularly on any server regardless of server population, its not as much about the number of people on the server as it is an unrefined network system, it will be buggy until its improved.

You are probably right but I haven't had trouble with most of the servers I play and the ones that have these issues always have these issues, At least that's my personal experience.

Generally if I find a server that plays well I stick to those servers.

Also I crashed 4 different servers when I placed my military tents, Not sure if that's still happening this patch but it might be part of the issue.

Server stability is really funky lately.  It could be related to a glitch I heard about where admins can guarantee themselves a vybor spawn, but I dunno.  Might also be related to hackers imo, as I often experience right when I get in a fight with shady characters quite frequently.

Of course that could just be coincidence.  I think something is causing crashes/periods of desync though.
