Drow_Elf_Drizzt 0 Posted January 13, 2015 I have been on google, YT, Steam and anywhere else that has popped up about this issue.I bought DayZ SA on Steam. launched the game and it asked me to agree to the Terms to play the game online.I did this and the game didn't launch.restarted steam still didn't launch.Have tried to run steam as adminTried DayZ itself as admin.Went into Steam and validated cache.Tried all the different launch options.Reinstalled the game like 8 times.every time I launch it says in a Steam window "Preparing to Launch..." for like 1 second and goes away and the game never launches. If I'm sitting at the library it pops up beside the game "syncing" for about the same amount of time as the preparing to launch message. Please help i don't know what could possibly be the problem??? Des1979 0 Posted January 13, 2015 I have exact same problem. When I click on "play" - "preparing to launch" and nothing happens, proces dayz.exe dissapear from system proceslist.I try almost everything - reinstall dayz, reinstal steam, manualy download and reinstall battleye, clean registry, edit firewall rules, turn off firewall and windows defender, install directx sdk, install net framework, edit dayz.cfg - resolution, windowed mode etc., edit dayz steam start parameters, start as administrator dayz, steam, battleeye, turn off desktop theme for dayz, dayz_be and this all for nothing.I always play dayz on my stationary computer and on my laptop - and this annoing issue afect my laptop (Dell Alienware Mx11R2 with i7 and 8Gb RAM). I still can play on stationary computer, but often I use my laptop to play dayz and now I don't know what to do with this, coz I try almost everything and still nothing. Maybe dayz support look at this problem, coz many people have exactly the same problem and can't play game which they pay for. Please DEVS fix this!!! Drow_Elf_Drizzt 0 Posted January 13, 2015 (edited) Ok im creeping on 24 hours here with 1 message from steam support and 1 message from an admin on this site....ummm im getting pretty upset here i think im missing the launcher for the game. what should be the launcher is another audio pack. i have a dayz icon and a dayz_BE. be is audio and wehn i try to launch off the other it says its an audio file also. i even changed it to DayZ.exe and it still says its an audio file. deleted it and verified the game in steam so it would re-Dl and it is still an audio file.... this is a screenshot of my DayZ folder http://imgur.com/Qb2HO0p is there a way to email or talk to a dev? E.J. 16 Posted January 13, 2015 (edited) Reboot your PC, and try relaunching DayZ. When it fails to load the main Window, open up the task manager and check to see if it's listed as running. Better yet, download and copy to your system's path (ie - Unless you know how to add your own custom user path, C:\Windows will work) the Process Explorer utility. It can be used as a replacement for the default task manager, but I simply create a shortcut myself. After doing the above of starting the game for the first time, load process explorer by going to your start menu, and in the search bar, typing 'procexp' without the quotes. Turn on the lower pane view with dlls if you wish. Find the DayZ process, and right click open it's properties. The tabs of importance here are... 1. Image Check to see what launch parameters that might be applied during launch. Disable any custom launch options through Steam (right click on game > properties > set launch options) if you find any trailing parameters like -nosplash, -maxMem=*, -cpuCount=*, etc. You shouldn't being modifying the game options if you haven't even launched it with the default settings. 2. TCP/IP Should be obvious. 3. Security Checking for permissions. Edited January 13, 2015 by E.J.
ChainReactor 922 Posted January 14, 2015 i dont even have the DayZ.cfg file man. ^ this should be adressed before you delete blindly. As you said you deleted stuff from the steam folder, you should reinstall it so everything is back where it belongs. Also reinstall DayZ if you deleted stuff there. Then you go to C:\Users\YOU\Documents\DayZ Please report back and tell us what files are in there.
