[1.7.1.5] Why I'm not happy and waiting for the next patch/version...

Recommended Posts

Sorry everyone but I'm very frustrated at the moment and just need to vent. I understand (hope) that most of my issues will be resolved in the next patch and am not likely to play again until then.

I have been really enjoying this mod. I enjoy being part of it and contributing toward it's development. However, since 1.7.1.5 my enjoyment has decreased considerably.

I really like the new features such as starting with next to nothing, Infected are now a real threat again, the ability to lose infected chasing you and then they will try and 'sniff' you out.

While I applaud this, I just can't get over how much they can detect you through some obstacles. You have no real way to tell if you'll be safe behind this wall or that wall and, unless you're prepared to crawl absolutely everywhere, all of the time (I also tend to play on 'Veteran' servers), whilst in towns, you're always going to be detected.

A lot of the original immersion has been lost, in my opinion, as you start getting attack for apparently no reason while it's also easy to do a stupid run through elektro, have an infected train following you, lose them all in a big building and crawl on ... to be eaten by another one behind a wall somewhere.

I find that I don't care about my character as much any more and my average survival time has decreased from around 2 days to a couple of hours.

I don't think I'm playing "bad" but obviously not "good" enough to know the exact tricks to almost beat the code/engine rather than beat the "game"

Every patch will introduce some sort of bug. The best thing we can do is either deal with it, or wait until the next patch (or hotfix if necessary) comes out to fix it.

Just take a break you'll feel a bit better, no point in playing a game if its only gonna make you upset. Continuing to play after that does no good, take a break come back if you feel like it, if not boot up another game and take a extended break.

I've continued to play Day Z post 1.7.1.5 and I agree with you to some extent. It's still possible to sneak around but zombie agro seems a little funky, sometimes I can crouch run past stuff point blank and other times they agro from a great distance.

I've often wondered what the point of these threads are. Does OP think it's going to make the new patch come faster? Is OP so desperately upset that he needs consolation? What is the point?

He misses the experience of pre 1.7.1.5

I do too but I realize it's an alpha. I've played many alpha and beta games and shit happens.

He's providing feedback. That's the entire point of the forums. I could easily say the same about your "what's the point?" post.

It's not a content /gameplay suggestion.

It's not a bug report or a hacking/exploit report.

It's a useless thread.

I find i aggro zombies who are the other side of wall/building whilst prone than crouch walking past them!

All feedback has use. Just because you don't know what you're talking about doesn't make it true. Now YOUR post, on the other hand, adds nothing to the conversation and is indeed what you claim the OP's post to be.

I only did it as I'm currently frustrated (not as much now) and I needed to put the thoughts that are going on in my head into words. Almost "exorcising" them from my mind. I think that's a healthier and more constructive way of venting than punching my wall. Others may have similar feelings and may wish to do the same.

That is the only reason.

It is not done with any intention that someone would read it and go "oh shit' date=' one person on the internet isn't happy with stuff so let's fix it quick" ... I am not that naive. I appreciate that the Dev team is currently working on 1.7.2 and it'll be released when they are ready.

What I fail to understand about myself is how everyone else seems to be getting on with this version and why I seem to fail so bad... I'm a pretty patient guy and have spent hours crawling around to get some decent kit.

EDIT: Also

alpha

I knew that I would generate this to some degree. I appreciate that it is at alpha stage, what that means and how it fits into the software development process.

Still doesn't mean that I can't be frustrated by a particular part of this particular version and provide some, potentially, constructive "feedback"

So, just as I had suspected then.

@JkFlipFlop

So, you were saying? Are moan threads feedback now? Back in your box, you little fool.

@DryGulch This is not a bug & exploiting tool or is a gameplay suggestion box. We have https://dev-heaven.net/projects/dayz for that. This is a forum where members of a community can talk to each other about everything to do with that community.

Not once did I suggest that anyone should do anything about my frustrations or that I'm completely throwing my toys out of my pram.

And yes, all opinions are feedback in some shape or form. It's about how you use it, if you choose to.

Moaning can be healthy by the way, especially if the alternative is punching walls...
