So what I was thinking is your character could have some sort of 'robe' on over ALL of his clothes. This would be used to hold in heat let out from the body and break the wind, so it wouldn't be too devastating to wear in mild to hot temperatures. At least it shouldn't overheat you as much as the ghillie suit.

 

So there would be more than one variant of this 'robe/cover'. The first one would be something simple; black or white, the next would be a random color with a design, like the Chernarus flag perhaps, then you would have the camo variants, green, light green, and marshy-black green.

 

Now this should have more uses besides just keeping you cozy, and adding another different way to pursue fashion in the game; lets say you are in a field and you hear gunshots, you stop and are immediately in shock, because you just came out of the woods, and you were there for weeks. You look around while your heartbeat  is gradually increasing, then you see a group of 3 fully geared players standing over a dead body with their gun drawn. You panic and drop to the ground, you then realize that you are wearing this camo cape robe thing that goes down all the way to your knees! so you throw that over your body, and those suckers look right past you.

 

 

These pictures are not perfect examples, this cape thing wouldn't go all the way around your body like it is here, it would 'fold' to one of your shoulders and you just 'grab and yank' and it will cover your entire back. kind of like the cape from assassins creed, except way bigger. Not necessarily your chest region. And since it wouldn't go all the way around you like in the pictures, they would be as low as your knee caps.

Sounds like what you're looking for is poncho's. Those would fit pretty much precisely what you want. Though i'm not sure about using it to hide yourself on the ground. I personally would like to see survival poncho's get added that not only protect you from rain, but could be combined with rope to create temporary shelters as well.

Yes! They are called ponchos! And they wouldn't add in ponchos to be used for shelter, because you cant 'make shelter intertwine with the land' as in you cant go up to a tree and click 'set up poncho on tree' because you would have to put it on the ground; same mechanics and stuff as regular tents but that is beside the point, thanks for letting me know what they were called, but they wont ever be added in as shelter. We might get an improvised Tent that is made from sticks and such, we might get an improvised tent made from metal beams and tarp, and these would add on to the already added in tent and military tent.

Yes! They are called ponchos!  an improvised tent is more what i was going for, not necessarily something attached to a tree. Just add in sticks to the rope and poncho recipe and you'd have a tent, like this: 

And to keep some sort of balance i'd say that because its a temporary shelter (that you can disassemble and wear as a poncho again), that it has no storage space at all. That way its only real function as a tent is keeping you dry.
