Mags harder to find

So as of 0.52, I've noticed its rare to impossible to find mags for the AK weapons. Whenever I do find one, its always ruined. Anyone know what happened? No shortage of freaking ammo, but mags, to me, seem non existent. Should be the other way around. Ammo harder to find than mags.

I've got 2 30 round mags and 2 drums, but no AKM :P

Ok, so I actually found an AK-101 in the weirdest place. By the water well at the NWAF when I was the only one on a server. One mag, handgaurd, and butt stock pristine. However, the wooden handgaurd was upside down. Anyone know why? Also upside down on an AKM I found. Still haven't found any mags since, except Makarov mags.

Didn't spawn there I presume.

Someone probably "lost" it after dropping it to drink or refill a bottle while carryiing a primary rifle. All been through this DayZ moment  ;)

Never seen upside down handguard, but did get a semi invisible AK before. Dropping it and picking up a few times fixed it if I recall.

I have had absolutely no problems finding mags. In fact I got more mags than I need and have been trying to find someone to give an ak101 with a couple mags... It is in a private shard, that's the only reason I can't give it to you.

 

Just go to the military base southeast of Pavlovo, look in the 4 long barracks there and you should find one. If not, move to Zelenogorsk and hit the other two barracks there. If you haven't found any, wait for a restart and do it again (assuming a persistence disabled server).

With regards to the ak101 at the well, chances are someone was double carrying it and didn't know about the bug where it will appear in your inventory when you drop it but next time you put it down it will teleport to the first place it was dropped.

The glitch apparently causes the gun to be dropped at the last place it was picked up. I had this while carrying an extra Izh. I switched to my axe to kill a zed, the shotgun disappeared, I went back to the little car junkyard outside Berezino where I'd found a bunch of them, and it was right there on the hood of the Hilux where I'd first found it.

I found 2 Mags for the AK74 and 2 for the AK series today over the course of 3 to 4 hours. I do have a pretty efficient looting route now however.

Do AK74 mags spawn with the rest of the AK family mags, i.e. the long barracks? It's the only mag I haven't been able to find in the game so far.

Not to mention that the broken loot spawning system isn't helping with finding anything either.

Pick your servers wisely and loot balance isn't a problem. For starters, servers with active persistence seem to be horribly unbalanced. Also, going on servers that promise "MEGA LOOT 500%" are generally picked clean by swarms of hoppers. Every private server I've played on recently seemed to be just fine in terms of loot.
