Aus NEEDS MORE SERVERS.

Recommended Posts

After sitting here for over an hour spamming the enter key to get in one of only two australian servers (usually we have 3 or 4) Even then, they are full.

There needs to be more servers.

Aus servers seem to be by AUSARMA,

Along with myself, is anyone up for donating to them guys for a push to another server for aus or even two? Seriously, i'd pay 50 a month for a server, the waiting list is RIDICULOUS.

If there's enough people, i'll hit up AUSARMA about our concerns, and maybe they'll up another server, or maybe more. Having to wait hours to get in is pretty bad, US spits out servers like there's no tomorrow, surely we have enough dedicated aussies for this....

Who's up?

It's called cost, data costs in australia are significantly more expensive that almost any other 1st world country.

If you want more servers you can donate towards us getting more up, we are looking at upgrading the box to get more up but then our costs are looking to be around $700-800 per month as opposed to the roughly $500 per month we are paying now.

Also, the latest update has crippled our server and is significantly more resource intensive which is why we have had to reduce our slot count.

I'm in the process of bringing up another server in AU - but as cm has noted it is quite expensive to run something like this in Australia.

Depending on bandwidth usage, I should be able to host anywhere between 40-50 slots according to what information I have been provided.

working on it but can't promise much with my limited resources. all depends on how stable I can get what I'm working on.

maybe can harrass some ISP's?

One of the ANZ servers went down this afternoon, as soon as it was rebooted and unpassworded, it was full in literally 7 seconds.

The latency is tolerable on a few US servers. I just find the players to be total douchebags.

also agreed with US being douchebags. On AU servers, i get hunted/shot at/hostile action 1/5 times, on US, it's almost 5/5.

It's interesting to note the mentality of the players in different regions.. US all KILL EVERYTHING THAT MOVES FOR NO REASON. AU is more cautious and you have atleast SOME chance of staying alive around others that wont gun you down for no real benefit.

Also just saw your server go up fenrix, although its 12 slot and wont let me connect for some reason, i'm hopeful! :P and greatful.

So we should have:

50 (Games.on.net)

90 (AusArmA)

40 (Shizweak) - coming soon.

That's approximately 180 slots in total. It's 2PM AEST, and there is 140/140 slots full already. We have 195 slots running last weekend, and it was not enough. Should be enough during the week, and 'maybe' enough during the evenings.

So if we have 140 slots during off-peak, I wonder how bad it will be this weekend? :(

We'll be monitoring demand very closely, and if it keeps growing, or if no-one else can afford to host DayZ, we'll bring up another 2 servers. It's just a shame everyone tries to bring up servers in secret, as we'll end up paying hundreds of dollars for another server that could easily go to waste.

What's more, I think a lot of people who are used to playing big name games like TF2 or CS: Source aren't realising that almost 200 slots is absolutely incredible for a mod in Australia.

That's more slots than you'd find for Red Orchestra, or, hell, Arma2!

190 slots running at the moment. It's only 12 noon on a Thursday, and most of the servers are full. Last I checked 15 minutes ago, there was only 11 slots free between 6 servers. Those 190 slots will be completely full I'm sure by 3 or 4PM.

Waiting on ON3, to see how many slots they'll put up, but AFAIK they'll only be servicing NZ players. (There's about 8 times as many AUS players compared to NZ, on average)

AusArmA is getting another server in next day or two, and should be able to provide up to 90 more slots, which we'll put up on an as-needed-basis to ensure decent numbers in all servers (rather than just a few in each during off-peak times). I think that should cover the demand for ANZ region for now and eliminate the waiting periods.

Hectizzle I hate not being able to play during daylight on green ping. A US server brings out sadist in me. So much syndrome crammed into such a small place.

Show no mercy, those things are heartless and deserve to die.

The Zombies are pretty evil too ...

Tried out the 25 player servers today. Feels a bit vacant and like the zombies really have the run of the place? I didn't see anyone for the first hour.
