Help! I am a crow.

Hello, 

 

I am new to DayZ but bought my gaming rig specifically to play it.

 

I purchased Arma II, Arma Operation Arrowhead and DayZ Mod from Steam, downloaded them and installed them. I ran each one individually before starting the DayZ Mod so that everything was setup. 

 

I found a server that matched my game version, 1.63 and when I entered, I was stuck on the character set up screen and when I push escape, there is no option to exit game, and I am a crow.

 

I have searched the forum for advice but the last time this was asked was 2013 and there was not much explained then either.

 

I am hoping someone can resolve this for me.

Make sure you have the correct version of DayZ Mod when you are trying to join the server.

 

The current version of DayZ Mod is 1.8.3 - this should be reflected by the servername you are trying to join.

 

I also edited the title of your topic to make it a bit more descriptive.

So I installed play6 and installed DayZ via that also, and have updated it to the latest version according to them, which is 1.82 Alpha? Picture attached. And still I am a crow.

Don't use play6 for now, use Steam to start dayzmod. Don't change any settings. Once the game started go to multi-player and look for a server with "dayzmod" in the mission name and "1.8.3" in the server name. Try to get in, what do you get?
