Mousetrap + Rats/Mice

Something that I thought about is the addition of Rats and Mice which could be found in Forests or occassionally found roaming the many areas of villages and towns. They could be killed for food, offering a small if somewhat basic meal for a starved survivor. Granted eating a rat isn't exactly healthy and runs the risk of catching something but if your starved for food then it might be all you have.

 

Then I thought what if you could find a Rat/Mouse Trap in residential areas. It would be a simple trap you can lay, wait around a bit and get your meal. It can be set-up and re-used again and again, It can be set-up using something as bait, some fruit (even rotten fruit) could be used as a potential item for bait.

And you can even get quite a bit of meat. My pet rat was around a good pound when he died. Most meat is safe if cooked properly.
