o7 - A Salute to the Firefight on TX4

Recommended Posts

Today, my group of three had the simple quest of finding a car on the server to repair. Well, it's never that easy. After checking the vehicle spawn map, and heading east to Elektro to skirt the northern border for the Otmel sedan spawn we heard hell breaking loose in town.

Apparently, three survivors had attracted many zed inside the schoolhouse. We saw the hordes congregating on the walls, and the frantic flights of survivors outside. My sniper and I raised AS50s. A dual fire at an easy 300 meters put that contact down... as well as attracted every zed in a 5 mile radius. We bolted for the firehouse, took out the zed, and I ran out to do overwatch on the northern hill.

I had to walk my dog, or she was going to crap everywhere.

I come back, and they tell me there's a guy on the roof of the industrial building. This is when SHTF. I shot this guy in the head at 300m. He's down, and our cq guy goes up to loot him. My sniper had moved up into the eastern section of the hill while I was gone. CQ is looting the body when we hear 9-10 DMR shots and CQ reports he's underfire, Sniper reports the shots came from a location that was danger close.

CQ is dead on the industrial roof, I'm looking at where I think my sniper is. I see a ghillie in motion on the hillside, headed toward the bodies. Sniper informs me it's not him (we're all in ghillies) and I take a shot. He's down, and Sniper is looting him. I move to CQ's body. I'm looting the NVGs off it, he's already coming back. I grab most of the essential gear, and sniper (who's moved back to the treeline) says "GET DOWN!" I prone in the body. I hear three AS50 shots in quick succession. I look right and a spawner is dead on the roof, followed by "Ghillie, firehouse, far side." A tense 5 minutes pass in which I'm debating running to the ladder for cover. The Industrial roof has NOTHING to hide behind except elevation. I see a Ghillie'd head and my CQ gun doesn't come up fast enough. I die. At this time, CQ has made it back to elektro, lucky spawn.

From what I'm told, another group of 3-5 rolled up. I hear AS50 rounds going off on comms, and reports of locations. They lost two more to the sniper, and I made it back from Otmel. I'm crawling when I hear more motion near me. I'm frantically relaying my POS to the sniper, who sees the guy near me but can't get a shot. The guy near me blows my unarmed ass away with a DMR at point blank range (literally, I was in the bush with him, he just didn't see me.) CQ tells me he's got a gun, crappy double barrel. He moves off to fire at the DMR guy, but gets pinned. Sniper takes that guy down. I spawn west of Elektro, and I'm trying to loot anything with range. A Loud-enfield is my goal in the crappy town, someone barricaded the firehouse in town. As I'm moving back I hear "Motion, rear. Can't move without giving my self away in the bushes. It's been a good fight 'gents." Twenty seconds later, he reports his death. CQ reaches Sniper's body and finds that it's been hidden, or disappeared.

When I arrive on scene and get to my body on the industrial section. The fight is over. I hear and see more coming from the city. I pop AK rounds toward town, Sniper reports he's off for the night. I tell CQ to get up here and loot his body. I swap to my AS50, and push more rounds to the city as cover at anything that moved. CQ reports all loot retrieved, He covers as I move down into zed. I lose them running up the mountain to the east. CQ reports he's free.

Logs all round. Most intense firefight I've been in. If we would had just skirted the whole town, we'd have all our loot.

Kill Counts:

Me: 2

Sniper: 7

CQ: 3

Time passed: 45min - 1hr.

Nice story. Good firefights - rather than one-off sniping ambushes - are the stuff of legends.

I loved this story, rather than the ones of people logging out every time they shot their BAF. The communication between your team is great, no wonder you guys work so perfectly. If I were you, I would have another guy prone a bit away protecting the guy who's performing Over-Watch.

That was my job, but I needed to loot the body before it disappeared. Then we lost angles, and couldn't get targets to funnel into proper cones of fire. I never log in combat. Ever.
