LongHorn pistol

Recommended Posts

It's surprisingly accurate (though I haven't used one since sway). If you're going to use it, you need to be pretty sure that you have the drop on someone or something though. And don't attempt to use it as a sidearm, as the RoF is obviously terrible.

Is it worth keeping? Looks good to me, but I only fired it on Zeds for now.

That depends a little on your play style.  The longhorn has the following specific advantages.

1) It comes with a built-in scope that makes it an exceptional medium-range snipe weapon

2) It fits in a backpack.

3) Uses the same ammo as mosin and blaze, which is not too hard to come by.

4) Its a short weapon so visibly more covert.

Basically it makes a great town and city window-sniper weapon where you will be shooting over a medium range and want to avoid having a massive barrel hanging out of a window.

However, it has two fairly considerable down-sides

1) It only takes one round so for close-range it's a do-or-die type of pistol that is easily outclassed at close range by most other pistols in the game

2) It's noisy.

If you're lacking a scoped weapon and/or have an assault alternative too (like another pistrol, an AK, M4, maybe SKS) then keep it I'd say.

Well yeah. I wasn't going to use it as a proper side arm, but I thought it would go well paired with my AKM.

I noticed the accuracy and I was pleasantly surprised, but how about the stopping power? Is it going to drop a targer with 1 hit on upper torso?

Certainly for a civilian Z, possibly for a military one, for a player depends on clothing, etc. These days I'd bank on 'no'...

Hmm that's a pity. Still, I guess he'd be severely wounded and basically unable to fight back.

I guess it would be good for leg shots, so you have time to reload it, possibly.

Thanks for the infos o7

If they're fully healed and clothed then probably not but it's likely to wreck them and their gear fairly heavily.   In reality a lot of people are running around with less than full health and of course you can go for a headshot.  Also if you are in cover you will probably have time to reload whilst they hide, bandage, or try to spot you - giving you the opportunity of the second shot.

Personally, I'd stalk someone until they got into a fight with a zombie and took a hit.  Then headshot or hope to finished them off during or when they bandage.

Zombies it will kill with one shot but honestly I'd learn to drop them with an axe because it will greatly reduce the chance of respawns and other players killing you.

Yeah going for the leg would be a good option.

Yeah, the axe is for the zombies. Literally no point on wasting ammos and give away your position. Especially with a loud ass gun which makes me remember of the Lee Enfield in the mod.

And of course you stalk the prey, you wouldn't want to miss a shot.

I've used that gun and it was a 1 hit kill. I don't know if the other guy was med/low health but he went down like a bag of potatoes. He was sniping out of Novo apartments and he was shooting up the tower. So it was easy pickings for me, across the street at another apartment building. But as to range for it, I don't know.

Damage is based on the ammunition I believe, so expect the same damage output as the Mosin and the B95 :)
