Storing items in backpacks?

Recommended Posts

Hi, everyone!

Have anyone got experience with storing items i backpacks over a longer period of time?

I recently found my first tent, but it only had 63 slots. So it become full very quickly. So i was thinking to hide some backpacks in the nearby area to store items as well. But will this backpacks disappear on server restarts or over time?

I guess what i'm asking is if backpacks are just as good as tent to store items?

I do some testing right now and i have left a backpack in the woods for a few hours, and its still there with all of its items. I have also switched servers to see if that had anything to say, but it didn't. I wounder how long it will be there:)

So if you have any knowledge about this topic, i would be very happy if you share. In the meanwhile i'm gonna try pick up my second tent;)

Our research shows 4 restarts and still there. I should mention these backpacks are inside a house that is locked. This is on fragnet (not sure if that matters). Hope this helps!

About a month ago I ran some experiments.  I found backpacks, and even weapons on the ground, to be as good as a tent.  The problem comes, however, with the fact that in all my test servers with stashes large and small they crashed after a little over a week.  When they come back up, everything is gone.

This was in .49, but yeah, backpacks are just as good.  I found out after being disappointed with the storage space a tent provides.

I'm also disappointed about the storage space in the tents. In real life you could stack hundreds of weapons in a tent that size. I guess you can just put things on the ground inside the tents, but then the whole point of slots are just gone.

I have put up a tent and have a few backpacks in the same area. This is out in the woods. Gonna be fun to see how long they will be there..

Where is the house and on what server? :P

The lock are useless. Everyone have an axe, so people are just one hit away to open the house. How can you sleep at night knowing that your stuff is at a loot location?

Send me a PM for the server. Private shard role-play on the highest level.

Locks are a bit useless especially when you can punch them open. Its not my house, but a fellow traders house [trader colony]. Granted, there might be a few players that don't know about bashing doors in, not much to hope for…what is to hope for is to put them in a house thats not on the beaten path and/or in a remote region…which is where this house is.

Maybe i do. Sounds fun. But my English is terrible;)

I found out one thing with my tent and backpack storage project: Regular items that i put directly inside the tent can disappear after a server restart. But weapon seems to survive. All items stored in the tent and in the backpacks where still there. So it looking promising so far.

I think this is to balance weapon-hoarding, so you can't store hundreds of rifles there and equip a whole clan with it.

sometimes realism must be screwed over to make the game balanced

That might be the case. But it seems like weapons who are just thrown into the tent will stay there even after server restarts. Other item who are just thrown in there seems to disappear, so perhaps you can hoard guns anyway. Only difference seems to be that you can't organize your weapons into slots. At least my loose weapons have survived at least two server restarts. So in that case its just stupid that the tents have so little space.

I have twelve big weapons like mosins, shotguns and SKS in the tent now, and most of the slots are filled with ammo and scopes. So gun hoarding is possible, and it will be even more possible when the servers can be trusted and vehicles are available. I would have a tent and backpacks in every corner of the map..lol.

Sorry to derail (only temporarily) the thread, but I'm interested too...sadly for some reason you can't receive PMs.

Could you send me some details about your community?

Cheers
