Character wipes

So I picked up dayz again after half a year, wanted to check it out again heard some good things about recent patches. Of course the one thing that turned me off before is still happening. Character wipes, and not wipes done after a patch or because of abundance of duping. Wipes that happen for no apparent reason other than logging out for dinner, re-joining the same server and having no character. Before I get bitched at that I died from a z or a character this was on an empty official server, that I waited 5 mins at the top of a hill in the wilderness to ensure I had no zombie aggro. Really makes you lose motivation to keep testing the alpha when one of the most basic of features for any video game (saving your progress) doesn't seem to work. You released this alpha to get player feedback, well from looking on dayz forums and elsewhere this is a long withstanding issue that people constantly complain about. Just because it's an alpha doesn't excuse the fact that this blatantly horrible issue has still not been dealt with. Maybe put some effort into the important stuff like listening to player feedback and actually getting to save our progress. Being able to explore without having to start from scratch every day would be a truly joyous occasion, instead of stuff like:

• You can search for feathers in chicken coops
• Fireplace works at high altitude
• Shoe degradation and comfort

Gameplay fixes should come after the game client itself runs smoothly, minor gameplay tweaks do little to change the overall game experience. Fixes like this are  :thumbsup::

• Fixed Client Crashes
• Fixed Server Crashes
• Antihacking measures
• Duplication techniques removed
• Fixed a server crash caused by ragdoll
• Fixed a server crash and persistance corruption

 

When I put down a game due to frustration and come back to give it another shot I'd expect GAME BREAKING issues (that have constantly been brought to light) to be fixed. At this point i'd rather play the dayz mod. GG

Also: Servers now post a long red text when they are about to wipe your character and state the exact steps to take if you want to prevent it. You can also reduce the risk by not rejoining a server immediately after restart.

My character was wiped 4 times last night. I know the steps to take to prevent this from happening but it does not work. It's game breaking and makes the game impossible to play.

 

One second I'm geared up. The server restarts or crashes. I attempt to re-join only to find I am a fresh spawn. I log out straight away (without even moving my character) and wait at least 2-5 minutes. Then I attempt to re-join a server only to find I am still a fresh spawn. Four fucking times in one night.. come on.

This is still a game in Alpha man, don't expect too much. On topic, I did had this happen to me as well. It was right after a server restart, so I do wait now for the time to be adjusted from say 9:00 and wait for 9:02 or something along those lines.

Yeah, I've been doing the same thing sometimes I'll wait longer than that.
