SinglePlayer or Lan.

I know that this thread have already been made but it was back in jan/feb 2014 so I thought it would be cool to talk about it.

 

 

 

You never thought that playing singleplayer or in lan mode on DayZ SA would be something fun to try. I really know that one of the core of the game is the bandit hero and meetup but I always wanted to play singleplayer.

 

Sometimes I don't have internet connection for some reason and singleplayer would be a great way to still play even though there's no more connection. Then you could still have to survive, you wouldn't be bored after 2 minutes because you don't know what to do, you still have to find ressources to survive. 

 

Back in Feb 2014 there was a poll and there's a majority who voted yes to the idea : http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/174916-server-hosting-without-paying-or-singleplayerlan/?mode=show

 

Multiplayer and singleplayer (or lan) would be separate character so it wouldn't interfere in any way with the multiplayer, there would not be some player highly geared because they was looting singleplayer and then they come multiplayer kill people.

 

I think it would just add something more to the game, it wouldn't make people stop playing online. Sometime I just feel more playing alone then with other people.

Personally Ive always wanted this for an I Am Legend DayZ remake.

Most who vote against this feel it would decrease the people to use their l33t scout sniper skillz on :p

Plus the point of this EA alpha is to test... kinda hard to find and report bugs when some kid/kid hacker kills you cause theyre so pro at ArmAZ.

And some people enjoy the survival that the kids make hard (hard to build a fire with hackers and l33t scout sniper kidz).

And dont say join an empty server, DC is the reason many believe that the zombies are broken.

Or Id especially love a level editor like Arma. You know... for making my environment nicer in my films.

Hell, add AI in SP if people dont want others to play the game the way they want to.

It'd be nice to have for those people that prefer it..I don't get why people are against it, if its in the game it's in, they don't have to play it, but for the people that want to play Singleplayer then yeah, they should be able to.

I'd imagine it having a bunch of options for the player to manage such as..

Survivor Bots:

Bandit Spawn Rate:

Hero Spawn Rate:

Zombie Spawn rate(?):

Loot spawn Rate:

etc.

Would be quite nice to have actually, it could give people a chance to find bugs much easier.

I too am pro SP even if others find it "boring". I like the last man on earth scenario.

 

However I dont believe its currently in the scope of what the devs are trying to achieve. This doesnt mean its not going to happen rather that is not on their list of  things to do AFAIK.

 

Im fairly sure it will be doable, its how simple it will be is the question for us unsociable types.

 

Im currently living in an area with zero mobile signal and uber limited internet which means online games are out of the question so SP, for the moment is the way forward.

I totally agree, people who want it, would be happy with it and people who don't want it just ignore.

Yeah, the devs are working on a lot of other things at the moment and I  find it cool. I really want to see cars before SP but it would be a great thing having it tough.

While I don't think there should be a singleplayer (as its incredibly dull), I would argue why not?

 

Dayz is a sandbox game

 

Paraphrasing rocket...."We don't want to force people to play a certain way"......"Multiplayer only!"

 

I do see it working well for new players to gain some survival experience vs environment/zombies, then taking that to there pvp sessions. But in a way that takes some of the greatest moments away from the game. The learning curve should be done under pressure, under threat at all times....baptism by fire....bandit sniper fire :)

 

As a seasoned player I would jump into a singleplayer mode as long as the environment effects and zombie counts could be tweaked. On that note maybe they could use the old mod method of spawning zeds in an SP mode....think about it, it wouldn't be an issue of knowing someone was there....no zombies would spawn besides where u are......they could have 1000 per city dead rising style.

 

I still hold out hope for a very basic (maybe in depth if devs in good mood) editor at some point. Just to create simple scenarios with zombies like placeable spawn points for them, the players and spawn time/numbers values :)

Sp would be amazing. Sometimes i dont feel like playing with others i just feel like surviving and exploring on my own. Not to mention how annoying it can be to play on your own for hours only to have some server jumper kos and ruin it for u.
