More Junk items

Recommended Posts

Something that I think we need more of in DayZ is more Junk items, some more for flavour, others for an indirect use for crafting.

Things such as these:

Tin Cans (of varying sizes) and Soda Cans for use in crafting

Examples of Crafting Recipes with Cans:

  1. Oil Lamp
  2. Improvised Stove
  3. Arrowheads (taken apart using a knife or hammer)
  4. Improvised Grenades

Glass and Plastic Bottles - Besides being used as a water container, Glass Bottles can be thrown as a distraction or broken to use the glass shards as arrowheads.

2x4 Timber, Wooden Plank - Alternatives for melee weapons, possibly implementation of modifiying with nails etc

Metal Pipes (of varying quality from lead, steel, iron, copper, aluminium, rusty) - Alternatives for Melee weapons, could also be used to make an improvised frame for backpacks.

Cardboard and small wooden boxes

Box of Nails - Can be used for crafting such a Nailed Bats, Timbers and Planks

Barbed Wire - Can be used for crafting such a Nailed Bats, Timbers and Planks

Length of Chain

Jewelry - Could be melted down in a pot to make something with the correct molds, home-made shotgun slugs for example

Money (Coins, Bank Notes) - Banks notes and paper money can be used as improvised fire kindling, Coins could be used as Distractions or be melted down into something

Yeah I hope the crafting system will continue to diversify. A lot of the value of the crafting system will come down to balance of other kit - lower levels of ammo etc.
