Gth 18 Posted October 14, 2014 I'm just wondering, because my light searching hasn't turned up a straight answer. Does loot respawn on persistent servers? I notice that stuff I leave on the ground remains through server restarts (and it gets funny if certain places end up having stuff dropped a lot. Hospital in Electro on the server I play on has clothes everywhere for some reason) but I can't seem to figure out if loot actually respawns or not. I'll notice through server restarts that the coast cities will usually remain barren, but then I move inland and its like all the loot is fresh (and mind you, this is a fairly populated server. I can't imagine all 20 or so of the regulars stay on the coast only). I figured that may be loot doesn't spawn immediately, but even if I go back to a coastal city, its still barren. So whats the skinny here? Doesn't make sense to me. I'd also like to express my late appreciation for the fact that zombies can now be locked up in buildings with the vast majority of them now being unable to just walk through walls. Makes it a lot easier to survive before I get a gun when I don't have to melee zombies to get them out of my hair; I can just lead them into a house and shut the door on them. Granted, some still make it out (Mainly the ones that crawl-hop) and a few still manage to hit me through walls (and space-time as I back away -.-), but even so. Red_Ensign 990 Posted October 14, 2014 there's a bug - it's called nothing works reliably. :-) don't trust doors to stop zombies. plenty still walk on through closed doors like it's nothing and smack you while you're in your inventory.
Abram_ 40 Posted October 15, 2014 My understanding of how loot spawns will (in the end) work in persistent servers is that most of our will eventually vanish if it's picked up, dropped and left without nearby players for a while, then it will respawn elsewhere. I was curious about this, and the scattering of info i found led me to this. Mend I'm completely wrong. But it seems a radians method. If items didn't "die" on their own when not in use, every server would be packed with items after a couple days. And that would just be silly .
