Keys for barricades?

Recommended Posts

If it's not intended, they need to change it.  Because there are games with actual permadeath, and there are games the same as DayZ that don't claim permadeath, because it simply isn't.

Nothing about when you die is permanent except your loss of gear.  You are the exact same character, and the screen even says "respawn."  You can't "respawn" if your character is permanently dead.

An example of a game with permadeath is something like hardcore mode on diablo, where your character is straight up deleted when you die.

If they ever actually decide to add permadeath, that's great, but I'm sorry Rocket is simply wrong as it stands.

>if it's not intended they need to change it

Alpha. They don't need to change anything because the game makes no claims that it's finished.

>You are the exact same character, and the screen even says "respawn."  You can't "respawn" if your character is permanently dead.

These things will most likely be changed.

>If they ever actually decide to add permadeath

They are adding permadeath bit by bit.

Everything you said can be argued by the fact that it's alpha. Rocket isn't wrong, the games just not finished yet.

It can't be argued by the fact that it's alpha, because it's already being claimed to be permadeath right now.

This isn't like vehicles, where they say they will be added.  They claim it's already in the game, and it simply isn't.

So yes, Rocket is wrong and while it's not the end of the world by any stretch, people fall into this misinformation and perpetuate a weird notion that simply isn't supported by any actual evidence beyond Rocket simply stating something.

"They are adding permadeath bit by bit."

There's been no work in this direction at all thus far.  Maybe it will come, but the fact that they are already claiming it to be permadeath and making no effort after 10 months to actually make it so, implies to me that they truly believe they're using the correct terminology already for something that simply isn't accurate.

Fair enough I guess. But the game is based on perma death and it will be stronger in the finished game. I guess you can ask rocket for an statement and apology for mixing his words up.

By that I meant it wont be added in one big feature.

If you die with a character that character is dead. It's a bug/flaw that you know exactly where your body is and I'm sure there will be something added to make this less of a problem.

For doors a grenade is a wonderful key. For me the bottom line is that anyone  that thinks their little club house is secure or should be is delusional. You know I would be happy with the ability to dig a hole and cache extra gear and supplies in it and camouflage it when I leave and have a reasonable expectation that it wont be discovered and looted.

Yep grenades should work aswell, maybe that's the only other way to get through a "re enforced steel door" or whatever. Maybe should take a few aswell, maybe 3-4, with the door looking more damaged each time.

Stashes are the way forward, since they were in the mod im pretty much 100% they will end up n SA. I used to use a little tactic of placing a tent, then leaving my mid tier gear in it....ak's, mags, food/drink. But then id build some stashes within few hundred meters in different directions. That's where I kept the good stuff like sniper ammo,NVG's ect. Even on the days when I logged in and found the tent raided....they never found those stashes :D

I agree the ability to establish a number of small remote stashes is the way forward!  And that was a good plan to give a looter something for his trouble but hide the good stuff some distance away.

I am in favor of sledge hammers, axes, picks, dynamite, rifle fire,  C-4, Grenades, battering rams, and cutting torches as keys. But most of all those that wish to build an elaborate base from an existing structure should understand that ownership is volatile and if such a base is not used frequently it is open for all along with all the gear and chow it contains. If I were to have  a base I would want a basement respite under a remote farm house complete with a heavy entry door in the house  and an exterior storm cellar door outside. And of course the ability to place booby traps and anti tamper destruct charges inside it to prevent anyone from gaining anything but blast waves and shrapnel for their home invasion efforts.

You made yourself clear, I was just saying that barriers should be destructible hence tools would be alternate 'Keys'. Of course Keys should exist what good is a lock and chain or a security door without a Key?
