BadAsh (DayZ) 1513 Posted October 4, 2014 Why can't hats just not be rendered while the hood is up? Or more simple, just don't allow the hood to be put up when a hat is on. I don't know much about the Arma 2 engine, but the notion that hoods are impossible to implement due to engine limitations seems incredibly unlikely. No doubt it'd take a fair bit of work (in which case fair enough, it's not like hoods are a deal breaker - especially in alpha) but I find it unlikely that it's impossible. Hats, gas masks, respirators, glasses, clown masks. I'm no game designer, but they didn't exactly make it easier for themselves.

Vadnais 9 Posted December 31, 2014 But honestly i feel that it is do-ableAnd has been done before in titles ^_^ Its definitely do-able, saying no just because of some possible clipping that needs to be fixed sounds like a really cheap excuse. I can think of several ways to do it and there are plenty of ways to model the hood so that it can fit over things like radar or baseball caps or the balaclava, and other headgear like helmets and cowboy hats must be un-equipped first to solve the clipping issues. Which may just require a little artistic license to make the hoods slightly larger than they really are (especially on jackets like the Gorka).
theevancat 94 Posted January 1, 2015 (edited) Hello thereIm sure it is doable, but to get it working correctly may not justify the cost or cycle overheads and pure pain in the assness that would ensue from doing it vs the reward of hoodies. They could do it with "Parka's" as any 70s child will tell you those hoods didnt move much with the head especially with the cheap versions me and my mates mums and dads could afford. Literally tunnel vision.RgdsLoKIt'd be a pain in the ass. My insight comes from Arma 3 and the stuff I've done there, so it might be different. There's a "head" selection that basically skins stuff to the head (great for hats because obviously there are no joints on the head to get complicated with as they bend, which is why hats are the easiest thing to make in A3), but I don't think there's anything to rig where the neck meets the torso and have that twist around without making a screwy result.Of course, we do have the diver suit which has that hood, so maybe I'm just bad at modding. xD Edited January 1, 2015 by TheEvanCat
