LifeStraw

Recommended Posts

Since eventually drinking from wells and natural sources will bring a considerable risk of disease, perhaps it would be a good idea to add LifeStraws to the game? Having one would allow you to drink straight from natural bodies of water without the risk of disease, or at least a greatly reduced risk.

I saw this and i personally thought it would be excellent in DayZ but im not sure its possible. (as in like wouldn't fit lore/ to hight tech for this poor country, unless its a military spawn at helicrashes or something.)

Has been suggested before.  Still for it.  They would have more than likely been in aid packages if not bought by hunters (they're about $20 retail) for use in the wild.  I think the same company makes 'family' sized units that filter something like 100,000 liters before you need to clean/replace the filter.  There's 'cheaper' ways to clean water, but this would be good for when you don't want to carry around a camp stove or fireplace kit and a pot to boil water.

It's not that high-tech, really. Any survivalist store sells them and they only cost a few bucks. They're advertised as 'low-cost', and I think they're standard issue for any soldier these days, even.

Someone has been watching Les Stroud he loves them straws.  I would not mind them, for starters run of the current animations around bodies of water and just add the hydration element.  Down the road when all infections etc are in I would not mind but I think lifestraws unless a large amount were purchased through amazon would not be a popular or stored item in this map.
