Pistols spawn with magazines.

Recommended Posts

There's a significant lack of incentive for using pistols at the moment. You can't just put them on your back like a rifle, so you either have to have them in your inventory, or use a pistol holster, which means you can't use a vest. They aren't as effective in combat as rifles, even in close quarters where a rifle would be unwieldy, because the game doesn't consider such things, and lets you stick the barrel of your rifle through walls.

But most of all, it's the lack of pistol magazines that makes them so useless. They are just too rare. And the more pistols there are in the game, the less likely you are to find one that fits the pistol you have. There is no reason why a pistol would not have a magazine in it by default. It would be as unlikely that someone took the empty magazine and wandered off with it, as if someone took the drum of a revolver and wandered off with that.

For the sake of making pistols more viable, they should spawn with an empty magazine. I think that's a fair compromise for having to use 4 inventory slots to carry them.

I totally agree. Empty magazines would have no value what so ever for a dying survivor, so please give us pistols with mags in them! I would be fine with empty magazines because finding ammunition isn't the hardest part.

I think all weapons should have a chance to spawn with mags and ammo. They should be rare, but possible to find.

IMO They should spawn with a random number of mags between 0 and 3* and the loaded mag should spawn a random % full.

*Maybe something like...

0 mags (0.75 probability)

1 mag (0.15 probability)

2 mags (0.07 probability)

3 mags (0.03 probability)

I support the idea of guns spawning quite often with empty mags in them, because to me, it seems realistic to find a weapon either with an empty mag in it, or with a loaded mag (or mags) nearby.  A common scenario in my mind is that its previous owner ran out of bullets and turned into a zombie after getting infected, leaving the gun and mag behind.  Of course, finding one with no mags should still happen, but I think it should be less common than finding one with an empty mag.

Let's discuss it again until it's added.

Well then, why not use the topics that are already open?

BTW, since it seems you didn't read the forum rules, here an "extraction":

Search First:

Use the search function to look for an existing thread on the topic that you wish to share your opinion about. You should also look at the sticky threads (on top of the forum) and browse through the first few pages of topics, in case your search keyword just wasn't included on an existing thread of the same subject. If you create a duplicate thread, it is very likely that your thread will be locked or deleted!

8) Hypocrisy:

Please don't break the rules to stop other rule breakers, or to prove a point. Just because they did it, doesn't mean you can do it as well, nor should you evade a ban to prove a 'point'.

9) Unnecessary posts:

Posting "don't care", "alpha", "TLDR", "search before you post", "cool story bro", 'fanboy' or any posts along those lines are unnecessary, inflammatory, and/or do not add to the discussion. This includes memes, GIFs and other images that are unnecessary/non-constructive; please keep them to an absolute minimum. If a duplicate thread exists, report it to the moderation team with a link.

Here's something for you.

OT: I agree. I have a characer who is hauling three pistols just trying to find a mag that fits one. #hoarder

Well, I didn't just post "seach before you post", if you should refer to this. I used the search funtion and searched for three posts that are about the exact same topic to avoid an "unnecessary post". It actually becomes very necessary because people who are interested in that topic then easily can find where it already has been discussed and what the results of that discussion were. So that post is probably more necessary than this whole topic  ;).
