crizztl 23 Posted September 28, 2014 So an idea came back to my mind lately - tandem carrying of backpacks (carrying one backpack on your back + and one on the front) The last time I thought about it, I came to the conclusion it is way to overpowered. But now, with beginning of weigh system, HighCap vest and Smersh, I rethought it. So the idea is to carry a backpack on your front side. While the might look totally overpowered on the first thought, I believe it is just something that needs to be implemented the right way. 1:It should take the Vest/Chestholder spot. This reduces the new extra space to a maximum of 22 (mountain pack minus 8-slot vest)(You could make it that you can carry an empty vest underneath, but that sounds very exploitable) 2:It will be way less powerful as soon as a weigh system is at least half way implemented. When a lot of gear makes you a lot slower, you will think about it twice if your really need to fill that space. 3:It should be worn at the same height as your backpack. This way, you can actually wear a mountain backpack, but you will see almost nothing. Can still be very usefull to save your buddys stuff. 4:You are unable to go prone and it takes much longer to stand up from crouching. 5:While carrying it, you will be unable to move with a broken leg I don't know ... I think it would be great, but I'm still feeling uncomfortable with it.Any thoughts?
leviski 2152 Posted September 28, 2014 wat? im drunk right at this moment and I cant even contemplate what you just said? like....wearing a backpack backwards and one normally?
Sencha 100 Posted September 28, 2014 Sure, why not? But if you're wearing a backpack on your chest, you can't really use rifles. At least not effectively. So a pentalty to steadiness and recoil is in order. And if you get shot in the leg and fall over, you have to remove the frontpack before you can stand up again. durzos 23 Posted September 28, 2014 It is possible, however Very Very restrictive, I have done this when helping an injured friend down off of a mountain, i had my backpack on my back and his to my front. It was hard work, slow and all your hands could do was hold the front backpack to stop it slipping. So yes it is possible but at the expense of being able to do any other action without first removing it, so defending yourself should take at least 5 - 10 seconds before you even have a weapon in your hands. Which in this game is fatal. To carry more you should be able to tie things to the outside of your backpack to increase the storage space, say 4 slots per rope added, up to a maximum of 4 ropes. crizztl 23 Posted September 28, 2014 The rope idea is nice, but the slots shouldn't add up, but be seperate for each rope. And limiting rifle use is okay with me, at least for the Mountain pack. I don't think a taloon would be this limiting
Elle 562 Posted September 28, 2014 gee I think it would be nice to be able to just take a backpack in your hands and carry it somewhere. there are many times when I kill a deer that I will also make the leather sack from the hide and I occasionally have meat left over and other extra things that I don't value that much. I sometimes leave this stuff in the sack and the sack just sits there in the wild decaying with the hope that someone can find it and use it and the items inside. if I could carry it in my hands to a better location I would certainly do so and hopefully make someone's day. I've left dozens of child's briefcases, improvised backpacks, and taloons in the field once I craft the improvised leather backpack as well.
