Mad Scientist 73 Posted September 26, 2014 So playing hardcore for the first time, got the "naked and afraid in Vybor" spawn, raining and the sun is going down. Getting cold and hungry messages pretty much instantly, so head into Vybor for some clothes and food. Loot the place and end up fully geared, mosin plus LRS, sawn of shotty and enough ammo for both. Eat everything I can find and get a nice wool coat, hunting pants, boots, gloves and hat. Also get some medical supplies (bandages and morphine x2!!) and survival gear (axe, matches and machete). Basically in 20 mins go from cold and hungry to all bright green indicator bars and start warming up after wringing out my clothes.Decide to head to the NW Airfield for some milspec equipment. Hit the barracks and cammo/jail building in the SW of the airfield. Find myself a hunting back back, gorka jacket and an AK101!!..but no ammo. Put the AK101 on my back and carry the mosin. Feeling pretty good with myself, and here is where I make the mistake, decide instead of going around the airfield, I am going to make the run across the airfield to the hangers looking for ammo and mags. I was thinking as Vybor hadn't been looted and the first buildings on the airfield were untouched (about 10 people on the server, I would risk it....big mistake!!Scope out the perimeter and then make the dash. Feeling good until about halfway across and BAM, mosin shot breaks my legs and I fall in a screaming heap!! I am thinking I am done for!! Mosin shots start landing around me as I search for the shooter. Can't see anything so shoot a couple of random shoots so the sniper thinks I have made him. Get winged again and I think...I am so dead!!So there I am, in the middle of the airfield, broken legs, bleeding and no clue where the shooter is. So, in a break between shots, I pull out the morphine and inject it...sitting duck as you have to crouch to use...I am not fast enough and hot lead rains down on me and I get winged again, thankfully no broken bones this time!! Go back into prone and roll around a bit to make it harder to hit me. Still can't see the sniper, so in the next pause as he reloads I decide to make a run for it back the way I came. Sprint like all hell is on my tail, zig zagging like made and make it back to the cammo/jail building with only a few shots landing around me. Hide, bandage myself just in time as the screen had gone a very bad shade of grey. So, having used up all my luck, i decide that retreat is the safest option and exit the airfield and head west to the train terminus to rest and recuperate. Find a boar along the way so stock up on some steaks and sit down in the construction site, make myself a nice fire, cook and eat my steaks and take stock. Ruined pants and all the food in them and a damaged jacket (thankfully he didn't ruin my shiny gorka jacket).Moral of the story - never run across the airfield (or any field for that matter!!). I should have looped around the airfield perimeter, but thankfully I lived and learned from my mistake!!

anotherdeadhero 71 Posted September 27, 2014 If you could not locate who was sniping you after he expended 20 bullets at your position i don't think the issue is running across the airfield, also you were lucky the sniper had a piss poor shot otherwise you would not have been typing this story. anotherdeadhero 71 Posted September 27, 2014 I'm fairly sure he would still be able to type the storyBut it would be pointless as he would be dead, not much story in i ran across the airfield and got sniped. At least three paragraphs are dedicated to how he survived take them away and you don't have a story do you, use your brain man.

Same point would have been made.
Mad Scientist 73 Posted September 27, 2014 His first shot was dead on (well not quite "dead" on, maybe "leg breaking" on) and he did wait until I was in the middle of the tarmac with no cover before he shot me. Admittedly I was running in a straight line which was another mistake. He was either in the ATC/firehouse or on the south hill of the airfield, but I couldn't scope him out. I was rolling around like buggery to make myself harder to hit...after I got that morphine into me, my only thought was "Let's get the fuck outa here!" Probably why you could not find him either as he would lay down to reload. Edited September 28, 2014 by anotherdeadhero
Abram_ 40 Posted September 28, 2014 I've run across they airfield many times without an event. Never with more than 20 people on the server though, or if i know for a fact that a group is around. I do always wait fur did to find, but never do... Of course now that I've stated this, I'm sure I'll be one-shotted the next time i try it

MaxTheSurvivor 152 Posted September 28, 2014 3 days ago I was on a not too populated server (20/30), making my way back from Nadezhdino and heading to Zelenogorsk. On the edge of the forest east of Pulkovo and Pogorevka I check the number of players online a see 9/30, it was 02:00 AM and I told myself I'll go find shelter in the Green Mountain forest for the night. As the server population was relatively low I decide to take a shortcut south of Pogorevka through the fields following the hedges but quite in the open fields. As I reach the hedge east of the Green Mountain forest I hear a "fffffweeeeh", I realize someone is shooting at me, I start running trying to take cover in the hedge and another shot comes, at that moment I know there's a sniper on my right on the edge of the Green Mountain near the deer stand. The guy takes another 4 shots as I reach the edge of the forest myself. I pull out my SKS in case the sniper is not alone and one of his friends awaits me on my left side which is also my escape route. I start to run heading for the Green Mountain dirt road, 3 more shots, 1 touches me lightly and turns my pristine High Capacity Vest into worn, however no flesh wound nor bleeding, and I shake the poorly skilled sniper in the woods heading for the Sosnovy Pass in order to reach the forest south of Myshkino. Before that I had a great day, but I almost ruined everything because I got lazy and too confident. Not too much damage to report but my High Capacity Vest and PSO-1 Scope both pristine before this happened and now worn.
