Fix for loot piling.

Recommended Posts

Loot piling is basically where exploiters take everything out of a building in order for it to magically reappear within a few minutes.

If you disagree that isn't an exploit , your a fool. I want a mostly realistic zombie fps survival game , not another runescape with guns.

The fix is simple , just change how long it takes for loot to spawn , if all loot is removed from a building , make it take longer to spawn more.

It can only have the benefit of making certain towns and villages barren and empty , meaning you would have to move along to the next. It will also increase players desperation when they are low on food/ammo and come across an empty town.

This will put the survival element back into the game and make it more difficult for the lazy gamers who want to play by their own rules by cheating the chance of certain items spawning.

Well, you see some small towns have maybe 1-2 enterable building some have none, people would advoid them even more with this. It takes 10-15 minutes for loot to be replaced after a building is empty. Maybe up that to 20-25 wouldn't be worth the wait really.

its more like 5 at the moment... 20 - 25 would be better , it would encourage people to keep moving instead of sitting in one place waiting on stuff to magically appear.

People would infact be drawn to smaller towns where people are unlikely to have travelled where the chance of finding things might be higher.

The number I keep seeing is 20 minutes, but if you leave the area and come back it can be quicker. I have seen loot spawn right under my feet before.

I agree, it needs a bit of tweaking.

So it is O.K. for people to loot an area, leave, and come back an hour later. But it is not o.k. for people to secure an area, loot it, and continue to hold the area waiting for more loot to respawn? The end result is the exact same. I don't think this will accomplish anything except eat up even more time. People already joke about the game being a running simulator. Lets not add waiting to that as well.

Sure they can sit and wait for that long if they want to , i merely suggested it would be more productive to move from town to town.

Peeople should be put off the idea of sitting waiting for loot to spawn , it only takes 5 minutes for gods sake and then loot magically appears. It's not something that belongs in a semi - realistic setting. If the loot spawn timer was set higher i don't think we would have the problem of people resetting loot spawns by removing everything out of a building because they would get bored of waiting for it.

This technique you speak of must be the only way to get loot... I have close to 100 hours of time in game, and have yet to find anything remarkable. I have survived and been killed on many many trips to NW airfield, and I'm currently roaming the area. I have yet to see anything I would consider extraordinary, and nearly every time I'm looting leftovers. I've only seen a few fresh spawns at the airfield (loot spawns that I'm at first), and still nothing great. I can't even fathom how long this is going to take to get good gear.

Also agree, loot piling/cycling is a bad thing, should be discouraged through longer timers.

I think when Rocket adds more enterable buildings there will be a lot more buildings to place loot randomly. So some will be empty while others aren't which will in turn reduce item farming. From what I can gather he intends to make practically all buildings enterable at some point. This should fix this issue of item farming you explained to some extent.

good input , this issue needs more attention.

There are plenty of groups who cheat the system in order to have an advantage over others ( often newer players) and it should stop being seen as a "secure area bla bla / part of the game" when it is just exploiting a system.
