Breaking doors with zombies

Recommended Posts

what id like to suggest is a system where if there are three zombies or more there should be animations for doors to have semi broken with bits of wood falling off them to broken. each door should have a durability counter. since if the argument is that in the dayz mod they could open doors. doesn't it make more sense to have zombies just break doors? this would also be a good way to escape one or two zombies chasing you, currently closing doors does nothing to keep them out or change the line of sight.

it would also be a useful indicator of what buildings have been broken into and if there could be zombies inside. it would add to the pve experience as well knowing that if you're inside a building zombies could actually break the door in.

the doors would get reset when the server resets.

i just think this is more realistic than a zombie whose brain capacity is only to feed, yet use their hands articulately to open door handles?  doesn't make much sense. my suggestion makes way more sense.

what do you guys think?

Yup, makes sense. Though they need to fix the line of sight thing, too. If a zombie loses sight of you, it should follow you on the route where it saw you last, giving you the chance to get into a house, close the front door, and sneak out back.

The way it is right now, if you do that, the zombie will just run around the house because he knows exactly where you are.

When I read the title I though this was about taking a zombie and smashing it into a door opening it in the process.

Maybe its enough to make zombies not smash the doors but hit them multiple times (causing noise) until either giving up or opening them (depending on the door in question). They seem too stupid to actually do something else than striking, clawing and punching a door.

well thats why i said after 3 or more zombies banging at the door adding pressure from their body weight would make the door crack eventually if its made from wood. if the doors are made from harder substances like metal for instance it would almost be impossible. also if its one zombie you're running from you should be able to close a door and make it lose sight of you or it should just keep banging on the front door attracting other zombies to do the same. and if the zombies are banging on the door and you haven't shut both the exit or the entrance the could come through either. making it more realistic. so if you say forget to shut the back door the other zombie that hears the commotion of the banging on the door will come to check out what its about and enter through the back making it more of a threat.

currently if a zombie sees you with its binocular vision by that i mean it can see you from miles away it will chase you and chase you even if line of sight is broken and it will know that you're in the building you went to and eventually it will break in and home in on you. you don't get rewarded for going into a house and hiding behind a desk or a bar stand. a really awesome zombie behavior would be if that you do have the opportunity to hide behind a bar stand they stay in the house for about a minute then go into search mode outside giving people a chance to survive. this will also make new players want to play the game because there is an experience of being chased and rewarded for being stealthy. currently its unfair. and this needs to be addressed.
