report server function

How about a report server function in the client. Just a button that opens a dialog that will allow the user to add a text message with why said server got reported.

 

With the amount of posts concerning the servers that currently are present for loot farming with auto-kick scripts. I suggest that a button should be added to the game to allow the direct report of the server in the server browser. The button should open a dialog box where the user can input the reason for the report. This function should both send a report to the host and BI. If you have any further suggestions I would like to hear them.

Yes! A hundred times over, yes.

 

Even worse than the instant-kick servers are the ones with admins that just randomly kick everybody on the server after a certain time of playing (probably admin getting shot at and kicking everybody on the server to not die)

How many servers have you reported thus far, just out of curiosity.

 

The tools are all there and all it takes is a single E-Mail and the GSP's take action. If only people actually started doing that.

there are actually 5 places to send a email too , it all rather tiresome

 

Everyone welcome high loot ---- 40/01 players .,... joining kicked ..... rinse and repeat , why do i have to then sit and type out a email of that said server send it to 5 different emails and companys in the hope they will ban the server .... the tools are not there , you recommending using out of game tools , quit the game and start writing a essay on how you got kicked of a server and its not allowed , pah sort it out i just grab a pen and pencil and write it down like in the stone age

 

maybe if the correct tools where there like a simple report function these servers wouldnt be getting away with it for the rest of this games career ,.

bis make rules and tos and dont bother standing by them , how about one member of BIS go through the list of 40/1 to 40/5 servers and see how many kick them ,. and all the blantent JOIN U GET KICK OR CLAN SERVER ONLY KICK AND DELETE

 

why should we have to use out of game tools is bis blind or all these companys dont even know the rules when a server goes up under the name of CLAN SERVER ONLY JOIN= KICK

The problem you're having here is that you don't understand the system behind it.

 

• BIS has the rights to the game and made the rules.
• The servers are being provided by Game-Server Providers and thus it's not in BIS's hand to take care of it.

 

This is not to make the life easier for BIS - it's how the world works. Just think about it. The GSP's would have to give BIS access to their backend and/or servers as well as the website-backend so that BIS-Employees could take care of server reports. This is not only highly impractical - but it's also a security problem being injected into the system, because an outside person would have access to the GSP's backend.

 

This can't work and won't happen the longer you actually think about it.

 

As far as filing the report itself - it wouldn't even be the work of two minutes to write a draft you could use everytime. And once you have that darft it would require you about 15 seconds to report a server (including ALT-Tabbing).

 

Here, I will even write the report draft for you:

one of the servers you are renting out has violated the Terms of Service imposed by the DayZ Development Team and thus needs to be taken down.

Copy/Paste that every single time, merely having to fill out IP / Port / Name and send them to all GSP's in a BCC (this is the most effective way of doing it, as everyone will get it and they don't start replying each other.).

 

Now, if you take that to heart you can't really bring forth anything, as this requires less than 15 seconds to do and will result in the servers to be taken down. It's your repsonsibility as much as everyone else's.

 

And just to remind you: It's not only undoable for a BIS-employee to take care of this or have it reported to BIS via an ingame-function - it is also highly impractible as well as impossible from a legal point of view.

there are already a dozen servers with ... JOIN=KICK CLAN SERVER ONLY ECT

 

why should we the community have to go through the list send emails out to all the companys when you can clearly see for yourself what the servers are called

 

sure it takes 15 secs to email 6 companys a copy and paste after we go in game try and refind it under history and fav , if it even shows up again get the ip WRITE IT DOWN , cause no copy paste from details , not even a report button  and then send a message

 

if the server says JOIN = KICK ,,, No one from bis will do nothing , and all the locked servers lol its a Joke

 

ANYWAY GREAT IDEA ,. ADD A REPORT BUTTON maybe talk to YOUR GSP AND GET SOMETHING DONE  OR DO YOU WANT ME TO ASK THEM FOR YOU ASKING THEM WHY IN OTHER GAMES THEY HAVE REPORT BUTTONS AND NOT DAYZ???

You don't seem to have taken any action yourself and it has been made clear how to report servers. If you're not willing to spend a tiny amount of your time doing this, you have no right to complain. It's much like politics. If you invest the time you take to complain into reporting servers instead, it would soon look very differently.

 

It is as easy as that. And if you're not willing to accept that, we here on the Forum can't help you either. You have all tools to change the situation. Just use them.

 

Oh, and I am in no way affiliated with Bohemia Interactive - I am a volunteer that is part of the community. I don't get anything from doing this, so don't bother blaming me.

And the Devs have more importan stuff to take care of at the moment. If one of the people would start taking servers down 5 days a week instead of, let's for example say go on the Forum to talk to the community, there would be loads of people complaining about that as well.

 

It's all about priorities, I guess.

 

But in this case there is noone to blame other than yourself. It's not only you and you wouldn't have to fight alone. If only 10% of the community would report a single server a day (which is 15 seconds per day and person they'd all be gone within half a week).

 

 

You have the tools and I explained to you how you should go about solving this problem.
